Review:
Norwegian producer Skatebard has been working away for over a decade on his own electro-flecked sound, with prime releases on Sex Tags Mania and his own Digitalo Enterprises imprint. This latest offering is for Untz Untz, and sees Bard Aasen Lodemel working a monster bass synth to devastating effect as he contorts it through all manner of filtering. The real joy is in the beat though, as it effortlessly bumps along with excellent snare fills and a gentle swing to make for a sturdy floor smasher. On a remix tip, Chmmr's "Borgerlig Konformasjon remix" takes the bassline into experimental Italo territory, while Telephones deliver an impressionistic Chicago house version filled with thick bass and deep, searching strings. Finally, Jesse's "Live at Haista Studio mixxx" offers just that, with the original bassline transformed into a hollowed out, relentlessly twisting leviathan.
