Review:
Originally released way back in 1975 on an obscure Belgian jazz label, Solis Lacus' one and only album gets a deserved digital reissue. Jazz-funk diggers have long held the long player in high regard, and it's easy to see why. Offering a fluid, Rhodes-heavy fusion of twinkly electric pianos, jazz-funk guitars, spiralling horns and typically loose percussion, it exudes cosy warmth. There's also some great vintage synth noodling on the cheery "Little Green Man". Much like a far-out Belgian take on Azymuth's more jazz-funk inclined moments, Solis Lacus offers a great blend of sunshine sounds and stoned experimentation.
