It would be fair to say that Yam Who's Midnight Riot imprint is good at spotting talent on smaller labels and giving them a bit of a push. The latest to receive this treatment is Tonbe (AKA Serbian producer Milos Djordjevic). The Big Game Fishing EP is arguably his strongest EP to date, and sees him going deeper into disco production whilst retaining his usual house-friendly dancefloor sensibility. Opener "Original Tool" - all rousing horns, clipped guitars, smothering organs and chunky beats - is particularly potent. The deep house-boogie fusion "Money Maker" is tasty, too, while "Explore Your Fantasy" expertly layers parping horns and funk guitars over a slap bass-propelled groove. Closer "Disco Nights" - a breezy, summery nu-disco jam destined for heavy rotation in sunny climes - is also pretty nifty.
