Review:
Always at the forefront of the best house and techno, Toolroom Knights have got two prime selectors to compile the latest installment of this consistently excellent mix series. Cologne producer Tocadisco and new Cream resident Chris Lake are the pilots on this unmixed collection that takes in tunes by Sebastian Leger, D.Ramirez, Nelski, Skitzofrenix and Fabian Argomedo amongst others. The chiming piano house of Tony Lionni kicks off Tocadisco's selection nicely with echoed vocals bouncing brilliantly across the mix and building the mood up into a fervour. Pianos also come to the fore on Radio Slave's mix of Nelski's "Body Pop" which uses a nagging riff to drive the tune into a hypnotic Balearic smash. On a less blissful, more militant vibe however, Skitzofrenix's "Droppin' That" mixes up a flurry of distorted snares on its builds, only to drop into a minimal yet hyper-funky tropical beat. Taking in all aspects of modern house and boiling it down to one superb collection is no easy task, yet Toolroom Knights have done it again with style.
