Vita La Jess's last outing on Vintage Music, Never Ever, offered a sumptuous set of grooves dripping with original soul flavour. This second EP for the label delivers more of the same. With its hazy sax, head-nodding hip-hop beats and liquid jazz-funk sensibility, "Mr Groove" sounds like DJ Cam after a boot up the backside. "Rewind" ups the tempo and loosens the grooves, whilst retaining a smoky warm-up feel, before "Ciao" laces blissful jazz guitar and ethereal flutes over a snugly groove. There's more expert MPC cut-up work on the delightful "The Sun", a simmering study in half-baked summery bliss.
