Review:
Two songs that have resided in the doldrums of funk and soul history until now, '60s singer Jean Wells' "What Have I Got To What I Got Now" and "Somebody's Been Loving You" are lovingly restored to the racks by BBE on this essential re-release. While the former is a yearning beauty, a mix of Archie Bell and The Drells and Smokey Robinson, the latter is a timeless soul stomper and Northern Soul favourite. An accompanying John Morales edit smooths out the mix nicely with some delicate panning and soft touch levels remixing of the original.
