Review:
Subtlety has always been German label Diynamic's trademark, and on this split release, its artists favour a light touch to seduce their listeners. Hosh & Stimming's "My Shadow" is the most full-on track here, its dubby drums and breathy vocal samples underpinned by grinding bass licks. Without this element, "Shadow" is an innocent sounding, summery house groove in much the same vein as Solomun & DJ Phono's "Ice Cream & Bonus Miles". There, choppy drums and a juddering bassline provide the basis for atmospheric chord sequences. A similar approach is audible on Hosh & Uner's "Sonar", which features innocent vocals, while Stimming & David August's "Sexy Biest" completes this understated release with icy synths and jazzy piano keys set to stripped back drums.
