Review: Long Island in New York isn't exactly the first place you think of when you listen to Blind Prophet's latest release Skeleton Key - the tight rolling 2-step and deadly bass lurking underneath the title track, lost in a haze of smoky synths, sounds like something to come out of London's garage scene ten years ago. However, both this and "Got Me Thinking", rich in shimmering electronic melody bring to mind fellow city-dwellers FaltyDL and Policy. Remix support comes from Unknown, who turns in a growling dubstep refix of "Skeleton Key", maintaining the loose rhythms of the original while beefing it up with some fat low end, and HGLDT, whose remix of "Got Me Thinking" contains rhythms so free-flowing it recalls a jazz improvisation at times, with a kosmische synth backdrop that highlights the dreamy quality of the fine original.

Review: It's been a wild old couple of months for Dirty Baz's Rhythm Selection as they continue to stoke up the steppa's fires with long-burning dubs like this. Following their recent Ancient Tings EP, the Bam Bams let loose with this one-off single skanker. Rolling on an infectious swing and lolloping bassline, this entire five minutes is all about the vocal drop that smacks of Marcus Garvey. Rock-steady in every sense of the word, this is one deal you really can't miss out on. We're unsure who Dirty Baz is, but we're sure glad he's in business. This is a killer.

Review: Time to get grimy on Dispatch, it would seem, as Hybris steps up to the fore for the first of two cuts on Ant TC-1's Dispatch Recordings. "The Blinds" sees the man like Hybris go in hard with ominous atmospherics, sharp, snapping snares and heavy kicks, full of tension and aggression. As the track progresses we go deeper inside the rabbit hole, where the soundscape is dark, Noisia-like and menacing. Safire & Borderline continue the story in the sequel, "Rebellion" which has more of an upbeat swagger, with sped up, pattering drums and gnarly bass warps. If you like your D&B dark and dirty, this one's for you - utterly superb from start to finish.
