Review: Melbourne-based producer Kreap bursts onto the scene with this huge slice of funk infused disco. "DJ Play This Song For Me" takes classic disco vocals and combines it with a muscular analogue bassline which has definite French house touch to it. It comes with a raft of remixes; Neighbour Hot Damn fattens the bassline significantly on more of an electro tip, adding an Aeroplane-worthy synth melody, Tad Wiley takes the track into dub territory, coating the vocals in reverb and bringing a host of cosmic sounds to the fore. Danny Massura meanwhile takes things down a more hypnotic path, looping and flanging the vocals into the cosmos, while Trotter's remix takes a similar approach, but dispensing with the vocals almost entirely. Finally, Jackie's remix offers the most radical revision, speeding up the track significantly, and adding a sweat inducing bass arpeggio which cuts the vocals into shards.

Review: With a title like Smells Like A Remix Orgy, it doesn't take a genius to work out that this is a remix album. Specifically, it sees various disco and house starlets stamp their own style onto tunes from Ajello's 2011 album Smells Like Too Cheesy. There are, predictably, some tasty reworks to devour. Brennan Green impresses with a unique acid/electrofunk/Detroit techno fusion take on "Chocolate Black Leather", while Emperor Machine man Andrew Meecham turns "Dreams of Paradise" into an acid-laden electro-disco rinse-out. Those searching for a touch of disco campery should check Discodromo's screaming take on "Chocolate Black Leather", which makes it sound like some kind of long lost Bobby 'O' and Patrick Cowley collaboration.

Review: The ever excellently named Danny Was A Drag Queen imprint return to "Chocolate Black Leather" Ajello's supreme collaboration with Hard Ton with this top heavy selection of remixes. Upon original release it was backed with a ton of revisions from Brennan Green, though this remix EP presents a more varied selection with the likes of Discodromo sharing space with the legend that is Q Burns Abstract Message. It's Cocktail D'Amour duo Discodromo who call shotgun with a propulsive italo remix, which contrasts nicely with the kind of breakbeat meets disco flutter of Tempelhof's effort. The brilliantly named Analog People In a Digital World turn in an expansive ten minute techno effort, whilst Q Burns provides both vocal and dub remixes with the loose limbed latter perhaps the pick of the bunch.

Review: Dutch Rhythm Combo main man Felix Haaksman seems to have ants in his pants. Over the years, he's turned his hand to disco, calypso, Latin grooves and afrobeat. Here, his latest Latin-flavoured single, "Alerto" gets the nu-dusco treatment, with Ajello and Lumindisco providing the rubs. Ajello's Vocal version sits somewhere between comfy deep house and sparkly nu-disco, layering the Spanish vocal over a bubbling bed of spacey synths and a rock solid groove. There's also a sparser, straight-up deep house dub. Lumindisco, on the other hand, delivers two contrasting mixes; a pleasingly electronic Deeper Mix and a more disco-flavoured Happy Mix. Both are well worthy of plays.
