Review: A sizzling Spanish breakbeat showcase from the ever-reliable sound stable Elektroshok. The first in their Essentials collection comes from label mainstay Guau. His name translates to 'wow', which is more than fitting - each of the five firestarters on offer are riddled with ludicrous levels of bass. Delivered with equal measure of funk and uncompromising aggression, highlights include the distorted drone bass terror of his remix of Destroyers' "Weird Day", the haunting cries and old school synth stabs on his remix of Wardian's "Lobo" and the hair-raising double-build up and slap-bass payoff of his remix of "Wrong World". Review: Spain's Manu Twister drops this new set of lean, electro-influenced breaks on Electroshok. "Tentacion" manages to be almost airtight with crisp snares and short bass stabs guaranteed to keep you on your toes and hooked in for the duration. "Stalker" by contrast is huge and heavy, while the 2-step skank of "Time To Break" might just be the favourite.
