Review: Tribe Vibes is a double album compendium of tracks key Daisy Age troupe A Tribe Called Quest used as sample material for their many, many classics. The release starts with Eugene McDaniel's stoner-funk tune "Jagger The Dagger", used on the Tribe standard "Can I Kick It?" and from here the soul and funk vibes remain plentiful. Highlights include the retro trumpet funk of Billy Brooks' "Forty Days", an appearance from the best Sweater wearer in the game Bill Cosby via his 70s tune "Martin's Funeral" which Q-Tip and co sampled for "We Can Get Down" and Average White Band "Love Your Life" as heard in "Check The Rime". As well as providing some compelling insight into the crate digging skills of a crucial hip hop act, this release will provide ample sample for any budding boom bap producers out there.
