Review:
There have been so many anonymous techno releases in recent years that the concept of putting out a limited edition, hand-stamped record threatens to push towards self-parody. Thankfully, whoever is behind Raw Series has something new to add to the narrative. "1A" is a peak time affair, its acid-fuelled, spiky rhythm housing whooshing chords and rattling percussion - and sounds somewhat similar to Spanish producer NX1. The flip side features a different approach: "1B" is populated by broken rhythms and percussive crackles, while the insistent chords come across like Shed. As debuts go, this mish-mash of various anonymous influences is more promising than most anonymous records.

Review:
After the impressive debut, the mysterious Raw Seres creator favours a more reduced approach on this follow up. "2A" is all slamming beats and a series of surging chord builds as the track hurtles along to its inevitable climax. However, there are parallels to the first Raw Series here; like on the first installment, "2B" favours a less immediate approach; the metallic rhythms are broken instead of being set to the default, straight 4/4 thump. This may mean that the accompanying chords have a less immediate impact, but they still radiate atmosphere and depth from beyond the intricate rhythmic mesh.
