Review: Dave Clarke's Dutch production partner proves why he's such an in-demand name. "Armory" is peak time techno, as hissing percussion and a building siren riff combine over a pumping backing. It sounds like "Armory" has taken its cue from 90s releases on Synewave, but then contemporary touches, like the sound of what could be a Lear jet in ascent, provide a reminder of its freshness. "Uniform" is also informed by 90s techno; its searing acid and metallic snare bursts sound inspired by old Ausgang releases, but then the screeching, splintered riffs bring the listener back to 2012. Ben Sims provides a pumping, loopy take on the title track, while Sunil Sharpe impresses with a splintered, industrial take.

Review: UK producer Darkmode has been a proponent of high-paced Detroit dance music for nigh on a decade, and this release will do his reputation no harm. "The Love Machine" could be his version of Kevin Saunderson's Resse and E-Dancer work as eerie pads tumble and unfold over a prowling, predatory bass. "MC60" meanwhile is inspired by Detroit's electro legacy, with gurgling 303 licks copper-fastened to shuffling 808s. But it's Darkmode's own interpretations that sound the most impressive; "Techno Has Soul" unites eerie strings with a relentless filter and a heavy juggernaut of a bassline, while "Deep Impact" is a high-paced amalgamation of acid trax and thunderous-clap led techno funk.

Review: He may not enjoy the same profile as some of the names putting out purist-inspired techno, but Stanislav Tolkachev is certainly adept at delivering killer electronic jams. On "Proof", he tempers his approach somewhat and the dense off-beat drums end up veering into an atmospheric coda, while "Often Enough" is an off beat minimal workout. But there are no such concessions on "Wasp", where an insistent tonal blip - hence the name - is placed amid jack hammering rhythms or on the brilliantly named "Stop Killing Techno", a visceral, firing groove that recalls Robert Hood during his most intense periods.

Review: Establishing a new techno label is no easy thing, but on the strength of Pareto Park's first release from label head George Lanham they should have no trouble making their voice heard. Opener "Ridley Road" comes on with an almost geometric precision, a series of siren-like synths riffing off against thundering kicks. "Cambridge Offensive" meanwhile has all the industrial savagery and subtleties of Perc's finest, with crushing beats and corrugated iron stabs. Perc Trax's Dead Sound proves an inspired choice to remix the track suspending the rhythms in a mid-air stasis whilst driving forward with ruthless momentum. Minimum Syndicat's remix of "Ridley Road" meanwhile combines Skudge's brand of hypnotic looping and house sensibilities before losing its mind with a brain melting arpeggio at its climax. Highly recommended.

Review: Ah yes, whilst Angello, Axwell and Ingrosso amuse all with their 21st century update on Spinal Tap, Rush Hour drop a timely reminder about the real Swedish House Mafia, enlisting Skudge and MRSK to take apart some Frictionalism classics and piece them back together in their own distinct fashion. The ever mysterious Skudge are up first stripping Shakir's classic "Floorfiller" of it's emotive keys and twisting the remains into the sort of highly pressurised, relentless, twisting reverberant industrial thumper you'd expect from the elusive Scandinavian collective. Impressive as that is, MRSK provides an even better take on "Travelers" transforming the future abstractions of Shakir's original track into something dark, sensual and pulsing with an intensity that's comparable to Robert Hood at his finest.

Review: Experimental enfant terrible Emika delves deeper than ever before into her psyche to deliver Fever. In its original format it's a dreamy sound scape containing tortured vocals and spiky barbs of percussion - a bit like Kate Bush on downers. Review: The icy demeanour of Emika's music finds another outlet with this single, and once again her deadpan vocals hover amidst ominous surroundings. Both original tracks have their own unique slant on contemporary beats, while the textures and melodies exude a Tim Burton kind of darkness. It's a seductive take on pop music that deserves a huge audience but would undoubtedly scare them off. On remix duties, Brandt Brauer Frick opt for a tracky 4/4 workout, while Kyle Hall omits the bass from his skippy effort. DJ Rashad and DJ BMT smack it hard with a footwork stomper that shows what the genre can do with interesting sound sources.

Review: George FitzGerald first came onto our radar last year with superb "The Let Down/Weakness". Here he makes a welcomed return to the airwaves and a bright start to 2011 with his next release on Scuba's ever-exciting Hotflush imprint, backed with an edit from the man himself on the flip. Two-step meets future garage in the title track with a repeated Ramadanman style vocal punctuating the beats and rolling, undulating b-line below. Enticing and insatiably good, this certainly whets the appetite for more to come from the hotly tipped producer this year. Over on the flip Scuba dons his SCB alias for a pared down version of the original, which will leave Berghain veterans drooling. Big.

Review: LA producer John Tejada has always been a consistent artist, but "Condition" is one of his most memorable releases in the past few years. Instead of focusing his efforts on intricate sound design, Tejada has decided this time to play solely to his greatest strength - his sense of melody. The title track is based on a purring melancholic bass that builds gently yet which contains a hint of menace, like "Snivilisation"-period Orbital in techno mode. However, it's "The Living Night" which really impresses: over a rolling yet more understated bass, its mournful, trancey hooks build and ebb in that effortless manner that only Tejada is capable of.
