Review: The legendary DJ Hybrid is back in business with another top quality collection, unloading four garage-inspired bumpers on this brand new EP. The title track 'Flex Ya Chest' takes centre stage from the off, exploring old school garage vocal overlays and hard hitting sublines to kick the EP off in serious style. Next, a 140 VIP mix of 'Big Four Five', utilising a hard hitting vocal line atop a bed of quivering LFO lines and choppy drum textures, before the super smooth sub notation of 'All For You' gives us another thunderous display in close pursuit. Finally, 'Area Code' ups the pace significantly with a dancefloor-ready rumbler, focussing on fidgeting synth lines and smooth pads to give us a slightly alternative closer.

Review: It's an exciting thing indeed to see the super consistent production talents of Vital Techniques landing on the legendary DJ EZ's Nuvolve imprint, unleashing three emotive bubblers for the dances to enjoy. First up, a dizzying display of synthetic mastery and fiery double drops as 'In My Head' takes the centre stage. From here, a more groove-inspired approach on 'Run It' as we face a sumptuous sweeping combination of grinding synthesisers and unpredictable drum crashes, before 'Show Me Your Love' takes hard hitting 4x4 drum punches and emotive vocal lines for a killer closer.

Review: Whenever we see Deadly Habitz back in action, we get a little bit excited to say the least, with this latest four tracker on Lost City Archives providing us with instant jitters. We begin with the nostalgia-inducing chords and groovy vocal overlays of 'Henney & Coke', an instant rave-ready rinseout, with 'Got Me Burning' then providing a more niche-inspired 4x4 splatter. We jump into more 2-step inspired switch ups next as 'Happy Daze' unleashes a smoothened sweep through choppy vocal slices and booming subs below, with the rough-house bass rolls of 'It's The Way' then giving us a smoothened outro, closing out the tracklisting with a certified slap of original garage tang.

Review: Four40 have been known for their cultivation of talent since their inception, with this latest offering seeing the monstrous flavours of bullet tooth land for a much awaiting link up. Across these five tracks, we see exactly what bullet tooth is all about, with the moody sub pulses of 'Your Love' and crunching drum stutters of 'Immaculate Skank' giving us a truly vibrant experience. Killa P then touches down for a hard hitting vocal performance on the heavily syncopated slides of 'Brand New Day', followed by the pacey breaks-driven drum lines of 'Love Sensation'. Finally, we round off with a more subtle piece of soundscaping entitled 'Signal', bringing a touch of calm to bring this awesome debut drop to a close.

Review: Instinct remains at the forefront of the UK garage scene thanks to more heat like this from Main Phase. He follows up standout tunes on the likes of Time Is Now, Dansu Discs and Lost City Archives with his most complete statement yet. Opener 'Treat Me Right' is a lively stepper with lush hits and a wobbling bottom end. 'Whale Dub' gets darker and more stripped back but swings just as infectiously, then 'Nuff' layers up brain-melting bass with rude vocals and 'OG' ups the energy with a pumping old school sound and plenty of characterful details. There is more retro garage gold on closer 'Body' to make this a hugely useful EP.

Review: As always, the Time Is Now banner is riding high with this top quality six track collection from Nitework providing all the energy a dancefloor needs. We open up with the old school vocal & chord combinations of 'Desire', before the choppy vocal melodic grooves of 'Be There' and colliding percussive underbellies of 'This Ain't Love' take the lead role. Next, a more stripped back outing as 'Lose Control' gives us a moogy drift of a bassline to play with, with the glittering synth work of 'All Night' then arriving for an additional punch of nostalgia. Finally, 'Falling' gives us a killer closer, rounding off this top quality collection with more vocal chopping magic.

Review: Once again, Conducta's Kiwi crew are back in business, unveiling the latest heavyweight garage heat from Prozak, who delivers a serious bombshell across three sizzling creations. We begin with 'Like This', a super choppy swing through high intensity drum progressions and euphoria-inducing synthesiser work, combining the nostalgic with the now in perfect balance. From here, we then drop into the super droopy sub warbles of 'Shine', which inject a secondary layer of energy into the EP, with Sharda then arriving on remix duty to close things off, giving 'Like This' a colourful overhaul, full the brim with unique rhythmic expression.

Review: The Southpoint train continues to drive forward, welcoming some of the best and most exciting new garage and breaks talents in their already well established hall of greats, this time seeing ODF arrive for a fiery debut drop. We open up with 'Riddim & Flow', a powerhouse speedy g slapper, diving perfectly between high energy drum shakes, square-wave bass notation and tight rhythmic designs. On the flip to this, a major switch up as 'B-Side Bubbler' delivers a much more old school feeling, combining broken-beat drum work with moody subs and a clean finish, giving us a near perfect switch up from A to B.

Review: Zed Bias's superb recent single with Shumba Youth is a modern fusion of dancehall and ragga that is perfect for loud deployment on top sound systems. Here though it comes in four different versions, all of which tap into different aspects of the UK hardcore continuum. The 4x4 Garage mix is just that and perfect for grotty warehouses, the 4x4 VIP Refix has a more prominent baseline feel and the Jeftuz UKG remix is a broken beat killer with wub-wub goodness. Last of all is the restless and kinetic 2-step mix to close out a high grade remix EP.

Review: It's clear to all who follow electronic music with any level of regularity that Om Unit has become one of the most consistently impressive names to follow, with the last decade of work showcasing creativity and sonic innovation with every new outing. This latest 'Fragments' album project sees those talents again at work, from the moogy bass flicks on 'Snagged' to the icey soundscaping of 'Entity' and super sharp drum processing of 'Side Quest'. This album showcases mastery at work, with Om Unit again proving to be a level above those around him, with highlights including the colourful melodic squelches of 'Moonglade' and breaks-inspired energy-boosting qualities of 'Hard Skin'. Review: Seb Zito has touched down with a truly fiery collection here as he unveils this brand new Dialled In LP, coming to us courtesy of the fantastic Seven Dials imprint. Featuring 9 original thumpers, we get to explore a wide range of garage and underground dance flavours here, from the nostalgic 4x4 bass notation of 'Back Again' and glittering synthesiser sweeps of 'Magic Arp', to the more abstract ideas contained in and around 'Who Created House' For us, the highlights across this top quality collection have to include both the ecstasy inducing synthesiser runs of 'Want More', along with the fidget-like bass designs of 'Take It Easy'. Review: DJ Crisps is starting to make some handy garage moves after a couple of various artists' appearances and a fine EP on Time Is Now Germany in July. Now they link up with Oldboy who appeared on Burnski's other label Vivid back in 2022. As you should expect these are four hardcore and rudely garage cuts with plenty of swagger, naughty samples and bass-face potential. 'On My Way' is the standout with its shuffling one-two drum punch, distant police sirens and warped basslines underneath a timeless and irresistible female vocal full of soul. A summer scorcher for sure alongside three more very useful weapons.

Review: Get your best-worst bass face ready and cock those gun fingers cause Instinct is back with more rude as you like garage. Prozak takes care of this one with the old school vibes of 'Styla' first up. It's got ragga vocals, bleeps and blistering bass set to a prickly garage beat that cannot fail to make a mark. The Main Phase remix is a more traditional garage sound with crisp hits and great swing. 'Ruff Dub' ups the ante and gets even more nawty and nasty while 'Gravedigger' brings a dark sense of swing to shut down another fine EP.

Review: The Kiwi crew have been coming in clutch for a large selection of 2023, with their releases being more spread out but all the more potent. This time around, head-honcho Conducta jumps on board for a fiery collection, opening up with an old school roller in 'Get Busy With It', flipping a tasty Novelist vocal skit into a rave-ready anthem, followed by the more emotive melodics and grizzly synth sweeps of '3FALL'. Next, 'Stratus' arrives with a much more summer-fuelled feeling, linking up glistening organ chords with choppy vocals, followed by the catchy Paul Stephan vocal cameo on 'Vectra', a more breaks-inspired subby bubbler. Finally, BIJI joins the party for 'Gold', a high-octane sprint through sub-busting bass tones and energetic drum skips, giving us a fiery finale. Lovely work.

Review: Next up from MPH, a trip over to AEI for another dance-inspiring five track outing, exploring the most fragrant areas of new school garage music from start to finish. We open up with the late-coming summer sounds of 'Crash & Burn', a beautiful link up with Lauren L'aimant, who lets fly a palpable box of vocal tricks. Next, a more breaks-driven idea as 'Overrated' sees chopped up drums and staunch subs meet, with the bouncy basslines of 'Show Me' and more subtle drum sweeps of 'Promise' then following in hot pursuit. We then check out the finale for the EP in 'Bad Day', a sumptuous combination of wistful vocals and tidily arranged drums, giving us a softened touch down to close.

Review: Fresh from outings on 8Bit and Dirtybird, Audiojack return to the label they established way back in 2010, Gruuv. In keeping with the Yorkshire-raised duo's outings on the imprint, it's a tightly focused and club ready two-tracker. First up is 'Somebody', a rumbling, body-moving slab of 1997 speed garage revivalism - all Armand Van Helden 'dark garage' bass, dark synth strings, echoing vocal snippets and chunky house drums - which sounds like a genuine peak-time anthem in the making. They continue the "arms aloft" vibes on the similarly large title track, 'Release Yourself', which mixes vintage UK garage influences with nods to contemporaneous big room NYC house sounds.

Review: Next up from eatmybeat, a vibrant collection of percussive-driven rollers from the one and only D-Nite, showcasing his crazy ability with some top level production skills. We open up with 'Ominous Arrival', a fluctuating combination of high energy rhythms and subtle vocal samples, followed by both the industrial synth thumps of 'Sine DNA' and arpeggio-lead soundscaping of 'Circular' to follow. From here we then move into the highly unique title track 'Ai Amor', a glorious roll through samba-style drum patterns and catchy vocal slices, followed by the bleeping synth sweeps of 'Amargo' to close off. Review: Whenever we see a new entry from the Time Is Now crew, we know it's time to pull on our dancing shoes and turn up the energy, with this latest three track collection from DJ Crisps being a seriously spicy box of rave-inspired goodness. We open up with 'You Stay On My Mind', a vocal-infused sweep through big room drum work and airy pads in the background, culminating in a 2-step slammer to turn the dance into a zoo. On the flip to this, we then get to explore 'Never Gonna Stop', a chord driven slink through American vocal slices and smooth sublines, with the abstract sine-wave pulses of 'Flat Bass' then taking the EP down a more industrial route. For its crunchy finale, the project then rounds off with the tidy percussive skips and distant reverberations of 'Critical Theory' as the Time Is Now crew continue to cook.

We open up with 'Know We', a melting pot of nostalgic patois vocal overlays, classic grimey string melodies and moody subs, setting the tone perfectly for Main Phase. Review: With garage now being well and truly back to the heart of everything UK music wise, labels such as Hardline are seeing a huge resurgence, with this latest four track compilation showcasing a real old school feel. We being with 'Da Elusive Ganjaman' delivering a steadily sweeping whomper in 'Da Return', followed by both the catchy vocal hooks and pulsating subs of Wodda's 'Don't Mind Me Original', and of course Main Phase's return with the wobbling bassline action of 'Childist'.
