Review: For the second edition of the in-house FLDIN imprint, Fold returns for another unique excursion into experimental bass music, with a brand new single that takes the title 'Bottomless Brunch'. As far as originals go, this one packs a seriously smokey punch, focussing on a unique fusion of alien-like bass tones and choppy garage drum-lines, all tied together with hard hitting subs below and a generally eerie feel. Standing out within a very packed out garage scene in 2024 is extremely difficult, but we do believe that tracks like this are the key to doing-so, making this a standout drop of the year for us so far.

Review: The Shall Not Fade parade continues to roll forward, with an explosive collection of remixes now on display from Chrissy, giving 'You Don't Have To Worry' a number of top quality refixes, perfect for sending dances nationwide into an absolute frenzy. First, the 'Big Ang Garage' remix takes the track down a breaks-driven, nostalgia-flood avenue of swiftness, focussing on glittering chords and tidy drum work, before the 'Big Ang Rave' version pulls things back for a more piano-driven feeling. Finally, the 'Paul & Shark' remix gives the track an even sharper feeling, focussing on clicky percussion and heavy vocal delays, to round off a top spectrum of spicy reworks.

Review: The Time Is Now train continues to roll from station to station, with their latest drop coming from legendary Bristol native: Daffy, a long-standing heavyweight in the UKG space, who blesses us with four scintillating original groovers. We open up with the smooth melodic drifts and sharpened drum crunches of 'Organs For Spring', a real party starter, before 'Save My Soul' amps up the subs for a gnarly 4x4 stomp. Next up, we hear elements of breaks, old school garage and soulful house all fuse as 'Holding On 4 U' gives us another hard hitting bop, before the more syncopated sounds of the title track 'Like This Like That' give us a wavy closer. Top work indeed!

Review: Krotone has unleashed an absolute masterstroke with this latest outing on DEXT Recordings, a super spicy sweep through tidy subs and futuristic breaks work, kicking off with the heavily delayed vocal samples and room-filling drum swipes of 'Mash Down', which also sits as the title track. Next to this, 'Joker' takes us down a more experimental garage route, giving us stuttered vocal FX & booming rhythms, followed by 'The Frequency', which then extends those garage themes down a much more dubwise avenue. Finally, the warbling subs and metallic drum work of 'Insane' draws us to a steady close, finishing off this very tasty collection in style.

Review: It's been a short while since we last heard from Dubchild, who is this time joined by both Groove Chronicles and IG culture, alongside the soulful, harmonious vocal displays of Nia for a top quality set of remixes for 'I Need It'. Following on from the nostalgic bumps of the original recording, we firstly jump into the Groove Chronicles rework, a smoothly arranged stutter through tidy vocal chops and sharp drum arrangement, before IG Culture unveil their 2-step inspired 'Bruk Rejig'. To close, that same Rejig is given a dub version to close the project off in style.
