Sudoeste (feat Bim Sanga) - (4:52) 120 BPM

Review: Bristol's Addison Groove is back and getting well funky on this one! The Groove boss and 50Weapons staple gets some low slung party vibes into full effect on "F1nk" - a wicked tool that's looped to perfection. Next up, he goes deeper into the night on the hypnotic and very exotic polyrhythmicity of "Sudoeste" which features good mate Bim Sanga - it follows up their excellent Where Are The People EP on Bags Inc. last year. This one was our pick of the two and is perfect for those heads-down or 'get weird' moments on the dancefloor. Tip!

Review: Alpaca Edits are back with one of the scene's most favoured editors at present: Andy Buchan. The Leeds based disco DJ first cut his teeth playing in Dubai a while back, where he was editor of DJ Mag Middle East. Nowadays, you can find him playing across the UK and presenting his highly sought after resplices on top labels like Hot Digits, Masterworks, Spa In Disco and Audaz. His new Deja Vu EP features the disco inferno of "Imagine This" (Crescendolls edit), the lo-slung boogie down vibe of "U Did It" (Fatboy Ann edit) and the flamboyant What The "Jezahel" (Birley Shassey edit) - which was our favourite of the bunch.

Review: The guys at FatKidOnFire make a major step here in tightening their grip around the top plinth of a now crowded dubstep landscape. They do this by bringing a phenomenal four track expanse to the table from the likes of Binary, who certainly doesn't disappoint. We begin with the shifty, unearthly tones and dubstyle delays of 'Cataclysm' and the hellish tripletted rhythmic plays of 'Decoding', before hitting the stuttered drum work and chilling half time percussive stabs on 'Kill You'. The EP rounds off perfectly with a top draw collaboration alongside Ceiva, which goes by the name 'Skeleton Dance', another unpredictable arrangement stuffed full of haunted sub pressure.

Review: Hamburg resident Dee-Bunk is no stranger to Thunder Jam, having been one of the label's "go-to" producers since debuting in 2016. "Peace, Love & Gratitude" sees him effortlessly flit between styles and tempos, moving from the rolling nu-disco/rolling house fusion of sweeping dancefloor disco revision "Take Me" to the languid, head-nodding sunset bliss of downtempo wonder "Love You", via the grunting hip-hop-meets-classic soul shuffle of "Peace" and the stomping mid-tempo disco-funk thrust of "Thank You". The hits don't stop there, either; "Masterplan", a dreamy fusion of jazzy percussion, heart-wrenching soul and elastic nu-disco bass, is particularly alluring.

Review: Evil Intention has handed a big release to fans of the dirty jump-up sound over on Audio Overload. From the beginning, you can tell 'Morpheus' is going to be heavy and as menacing bass strabs build up into preparatory drum skits, your feelings are confirmed. A growling hurry rushes out to meet you; powerful and more than willing to shove you around. 'Future Simulation' is the B-side, a glitchy mash of jump-up, permeated by rattling arrays of bassy synths and an ever-present sense of movement. Nice and solid, this release is a statement of intent from Evil Intention.

Review: Gifted Culture collective announce the second jam session of an announced trilogy. GMI Jam Venice comes from the filth and the mug of the abandoned ex-industrial area in the outskirts of Venice in northern Italy. There, Autre and Two Thou invade Hawaiian Chips' state of the art studio, where all together ride '70s synthesizer rarities and try to domesticate the monstrous Yamaha CS 80 synth. This jam, inspired by the post-industrial Venetian scenario, dives between the dreams of archetypal electronic music and reminiscences of psychedelic progressive bands, giving birth to two long journeys ready to gently carry the dancefloor into the outer space.

Review: Hiva and Jr Mark have previously joined forces for releases on Cherry Cola and Mood Funk, so it's little surprise to see them collaborating again on this four-track selection of pumped-up, peak-time disco edits. They begin with "From The Disco", sticking heavyweight beats and sweaty percussive build-ups beneath a vaguely familiar, horn-heavy disco jam, before moving further towards sample-heavy "boompty" hip-house territory on the excellent "My Nigga". The duo's love of sturdy but crispy house beats once again comes to the fore on David Joseph rework "Look Around", while "The Journey" wraps elastic slap bass, filtered horns and key party funk vocal snippets around a slamming house groove.

Review: Following two years away, Soulserious founder Louie John returned to action in the summer with an EP that demonstrated his growing maturity as a producer. The "I Owe You EP" is similarly impressive with John unleashing four more cuts of the highest quality. Our pick of a very strong bunch is the title track, where the Reading producer cannily combines the bluesy, horizontal deep house warmth of "Boulevard"-era St Germain with the rhythm swing, sub-bass weight and cut-up vocal samples of UK garage. He explores similar sonic territory on the more musically expansive and dreamy "Fabrique", before doffing a peaked cap towards the bouncy, ear-pleasing goodness of Ibadan man Jerome Sydenham on closing cuts "Charmer" and "Long Time" (the latter of which is particularly breezy and melodious).

Review: Deep house from the leftfield side on this five-track offering from Brooklyn-based producer M Vaughan. 'Moon River', a cover of the classic easy listening tune, sets the tone for the rest of the EP, with dusty jazz-era vocal samples and lo-fi beats much in evidence throughout. 'Tenderness' revisits another jazz standard made famous by Louie Armstrong, 'When It Happens' is reminiscent of early Groove Armada, while 'Turn Around' opens with a very odd, almost Native American-sounding looped vocal, then makes great use of some mournful violins. None of the tracks here could be described as floorfillers but if it's lazy, laidback and slightly off-kilter grooves you're looking for, step right on in.

Review: It's time to celebrate some truly innovative newschool breakbeat here as Mettasonic present us all with a top draw project from Maidable. As a musical arrangement the 'Lifesprings' EP showcases some super creative production techniques, which we can see from the start as we kick off with the springly horn arrangements and choppy breakbeats of 'Soothin'. To follow, we have the mellowed out tones 'Bath Time' and a spacey selection of percussive synthesizers on 'Grounding'. Finally we round up with the 8bit driven, glitchy madness of 'Gait', a very nostalgic composition indeed, polishing off a terrific body of work.

Review: Marten Roberto and Nikolay Danev are old studio buddies. The duo has previously delivered sprightly, electrofunk-influenced EPs for both Mr Moon and ISM. Here they return to the latter label for the first time in 18 months with "Be Yourself", a deliciously delay-laden mid-tempo fusion of druggy, Italo-disco style arpeggio bass, Fat Freddy's Drop horns, half-spoken/half-sung vocals and intoxicating, outer-space electronics. The fine original version comes accompanied with a more peak-time friendly revision from veteran producer Pete Herbert, who successfully ups the tempo and reaches for the analogue bass in a bid to get limbs flailing. Bonus cut "I Can't Believe", meanwhile, is a fine fusion of drowsy Balearic soul, woozy deep house nous and druggy Italo-disco chug.

His new one comes courtesy of 3000, following up great ones by CLB, Mr. Curl and Hot Goods. His new thriller "Lonely" is a wonky grime influenced bounce featuring some super sexy vocals, while "Mind Scan" goes more underground on this darkside speed garage groove that will take you all the way back to '97 when Tuff Jam and Double 99 reigned supreme.

Review: Four varied tracks make up this new EP from Spanish nu-disco producer Rayco Pena. 'Spelling Love' has a distinctly 80s feel, thanks not least to a very new wave-y vocal. 'Lucky Lately' also harks back to the 80s, but this time we're talking glitzy US boogie rather than angsty European synth-pop. 'Beat' has something of a Prince-y vibe about it, and then we're back in boogie territory again for EP closer 'Changes'. Pastiches these tracks may be, but paying homage to great music of yore isn't a crime - especially not it's when done as convincingly as the four tracks here.

Review: Dutch foursome Rocknrolla Soundsystem has already built a solid reputation for its re-edit work, thanks in no small part to admired releases on Alpaca Edits, Springbokz and Katakana Edits. This outing on Vehicle will only enhance their growing reputation. They begin in confident mood via a smoky, jazz-flecked and dreamy late night revision of an old Marvin Gaye favourite ("Trouble Man") that achieves a near perfect balance between shuffling dancefloor goodness and touchy-feely late night bliss. "Lonely Town, Lonely Street" sees the quartet cleverly combine elements from a Clavinet-driven conscious soul masterpiece with chunkier mid-tempo beats and woozy deep house chords. They repeat the trick on the piano solo-heavy head-nod of closing cut "Nobody's Fault But Mine", which may well be the best of the lot.

Review: If you like your reggae-influenced music that's British underground to its core - you'll like this. Sleepy Time Ghost and Bazza Ranks featuring Shumba Youth and Natty Campbell drop their very own 'Rip It Up', packed full of funky ragga vibes along with slick vocal work from everyone involved. But they've also roped in Wrongtom and FleCK on remix duties, the former of which doesn't divert from the original much but cleans it up a bit, smoothes over the edges and brings out some clarity in the mix. FleCK takes things in a different direction, namely D&B, and the vocals sound amazing in combination with the pace of the drums, the wobbly bassline swerving underneath. Finally, Sleepy Time Ghost has incorporated a vocal-less dub version which you could easily imagine Mungo's HiFi dropping to rapturous approval. A slick release that covers various strands of British dance music history.

Review: Spaceark spent considerable time and money recording their eponymous 1975 debut album at Sunset Sound Studio in Los Angeles, yet released it as a self-distributed, private-press LP. Because of that, this brilliant West Coast soul set has become an in-demand item amongst collectors, with original copies changing hands for vast sums online. Here, it finally gets the reissue treatment courtesy of Mr Bongo. Undeniably dreamy, poignant, warm and musically expansive, the album's ten tracks sit somewhere between Steely Dan style jazz-rock, up-tempo soul, all-action jazz-fusion, Curtis Mayfield and Al Green. It's genuinely a forgotten and overlooked gem, with the album sounding as timeless and evocative now as it did back in 1975.

Review: Vital Elements and Micky Finn make D&B that's raucous and packed with attitude. Needless to say, their new EP doesn't stop that trend and it kicks off with 'Control Sound': rumbles in the intro, an unbelievable build up and a drop that's as energetic as it gets - pure nastiness in the dance. 'I Need A Rhythm' builds stuttering breaks into a solid bedrock of percussion that pushes out into a snarling blend of various interlocked bass growls that still maintains a sense of groove, despite the horribleness. 'The Noise' is darker and emerges out of shimmering synths and a muddy low-end, transitioning nicely into 'Right To Dream', which is the roller of the EP with a fiery tirade of movement and energy. 'Double Time Swing' is a digital bonus, opening with a mix of walking double bass flicks and old-school samples, funky stabs turning into a diving blend of head-nodding bass notes. This is a release worthy of the pairs sound system credentials and one that would sound incredible live.
