Review: After the recent longplay joint venture of all the Keinemusik crew and a hot bunch of remixes, here's a new two-tracker from label staple Adam Port. The Berliner throws down a truly emotive effort on the bittersweet "Do You Still Think Of Me" with its sombre piano melody, hypnotic arpeggios and restrained rhythms all working in perfect harmony. This is backed up by the polyrhythmic and very funky Afro influended DJ tool "Roots Edit".

Review: We were lucky enough to come across this UKG-patois combo whilst looking through the forthcoming shelf and what a release to find as Blasta joins forces with Steps for a true shellout. Going by the name 'Vibe', this one is a real party starter as highly energetic lyricism laces intense 4x4 beats and vibrant sub sounds, bringing a seriously punchy set of grooves from the off. On remix duty, up steps DJ Dappa for a funky overhaul, bringing lovely key and organ riffs into the picture alongside some smooth breakbeat backing.

Review: Shed dwelling funkateer Daytoner has been surreptitiously priming us for this monumental third album moment throughout the year with cheeky 45s "Needed You" and "Second Stomp". Now the moment has landed and it's every bit as varied, infectious and feel-good as we hoped it would be. Highlights include the Brand New Heavies style slink new jazz of "Pacific", the Labi-sampling strutter "I Get By", the sweaty stomping northern soul jam "Needed You" and the big swing sing-along "Sicka". And that's not even half of it.... He didn't name it Off The Hook for nothing.

Review: It's time for some serious stepper vibes as Dayzero steps up upon the Hatched imprint for a weighty five track selection. We kick off with the super swingy subs of 'Frog Squash' before rolling further into the swamp with 'Gun Pop' which machine guns it's way through pulsating 808 bass tones and shuffling drum arrangements polished off with some well sliced vocal additions. Next up, the tripletted power of 'Ishval', which rolls out some unpredictable percussive lines before we hit 'Pluto', a dubwise spacey womper. We then finish up in style with 'Symbolic Meaning', a super swung journey into the unknown, packed with crunchy bass sounds and dubwise fx design.

Review: Multiple label mogul, card carrying junglist and all round badman DJ Hybrid shares the parts of last year's piano-laced roller "Love The Vibe" to five expert new-gen speaker smashers; Stompz takes us down a guttural tech-twist path only showing shards of the original's euphoria, Kumarachi goes mental with rattling breaks and dub sirens galore, Damageman maintains the uplifting pianos while switching up the bassline into a stripped back growler, Sl8r brings is signature devil bass while Furniss closes the show with a bass riff so ugly all mirrors in the club will shatter when you drop it. Vibey.

Review: Since making his debut a couple of years back, Downunder Disco producer Steve Cooper has become one of Thunder Jam's most reliable artists. Here the Aussie nu-disco don transfers to Fingerman's Hot Digits label to release what could well be his strongest EP. Of the four original tracks on offer, we're rather enjoying the lolloping beats, dreamy Rhodes chords and fluttering Balearic flourishes of "Gettin' Loose", the off0kilter Latino piano house bustle of "Horn Bag" and the wavy acid-funk of "Last Night Changed". Saskin S handles remix duties, first serving up a languid, head-nodding take on "Gettin' Loose" (the sun-kiised "Smoothie and Soft" mix), before heading towards peak-time dancers via an analogue bass-propelled deep house Club Mix of the same track.

Review: For what it's worth, we believe that Ethyene was one of the underground success stories of 2017. This EP of deep house-tinged disco reworks for Editorial - his first release of 2018 when it appeared on vinyl a month or two back - follows inspired outings on Kolour LTD and Moonrise Hill Material. Turn first to the lolloping, loved-up sweetness of "Rains Over Occident", where glistening jazz guitars and toasty chords recline over a laidback house groove, before strapping yourself in for the wild disco ride that is '80s soul-meets-jazz funk bubbler "Walkin' In The Sunshine". Elsewhere, "Free To Give" joins the dots between loved-up modern soul and jazzy deep house, while closer "Solitary Sex" is a Rhodes-heavy broken beat number.

Review: Breakbeat Paradise regular Morlack has a reputation for serving up brilliantly chopped-up, funk-fuelled material that's guaranteed to get the party started. The Parisian producer's latest Katakana Edits outing ticks all of the right boxes, serving up two prime cuts of celebratory dancefloor release. Choose between the rubbery, beefed-up disco heaviness of "I Like The Way You..." - all elastic slap bass, punchy horns and screaming orchestration -and the chunkier, 109 BPM breakbeat shuffle of "Across The Floor". This is effectively a rearrangement of a well-known disco era staple with punchy new drums beneath. While simple by design, it's very effective.

Review: It's been a hot minute since we heard from Phlegmatic Dogs, but they are back in major style as they return to the ever-impressive Night Bass imprint for an explosive two track EP project entitled 'No Cats'. We kick off with 'Cuatrocats' which brings energy through squelchy bass waves and perfectly processed 4x4 drum patterns in typical Phlegmatic fashion. On the flip we are introduced to 'Bounce', which takes a more techy experimental route, with subtle subs rolling lose amidst heavily attacking bass stabs and yet more precise drum design. A great return for the Dogs!

Trans (Underground Resistance Hamtramck remix) - (8:19) 125 BPM Biggest-selling track on this release

Review: In its original form, "Trans" was one of the dancefloor highlights of Matt Edwards' second album as Radio Slave, 2017's Feel The Same. Here, the dark and stylish original - think alien new wave synth-pop from 1983 re-imagined as a Panoramabar-friendly workout - is given a makeover by two titans of the electronic music scene: Innervisions overlord Dixon and Detroit techno stalwarts Underground Resistance. Naturally, Dixon's rub is weightier and more obviously big room-friendly than Edwards album cut, with the foreboding original synth bassline and bubbly electronic flourishes being joined by weightier drum hits and bold new melodic motifs which fire "Trans" towards the stratosphere. In contrast, Underground Resistance's revision is fuzzier, wonkier and more hypnotic, albeit with a little disco surprise here and there.

Review: Liondub continue to squeeze near album-sized collections out of their mates. And this one comes courtesy of the currently unavoidable RMS, a man often spotted on the likes of Deep In The Jungle, Hocus Pocus and Dubsoul. Here he makes his Liondub debut with seven soudboy slayers and highlights include the subtle gamey flutters and stripped back steppery of "Woldwide Tingz", the dark shreds and lasers of "Insiders" and the carnal urgency of "Gutrot" where the vocal washes over the grunting bass with mesmerising trippy effect. Cool and deadly.

Review: For their second release in as many months, Sonic Boom revisit Sam Bennett's impressive 'You Don't Believe In Love' original recording for a stacked remix double. First up, SPK arrives on the scene for his top draw garage rework, bringing jittery chord progressions and a stripped back nature to the original, allowing the impressive vocal range to shine through. On the flip, the strip back gets even more prominent as Cup & String step forward for a vibrant overhaul, choosing to slice the vocal for melodic purposes, and to great effect we may add. Great stuff!

Review: Vintage Music chief Sunner Soul can usually relied upon to serve up summer sizzlers that gleefully blur the boundaries between re-edits, remixes and original productions. That's certainly what's on offer here, beginning with the breezy, breakbeat-fuelled sunshine grooves of opener "Summertime". "Ready To Dance", meanwhile, is a filter-sporting disco-house shuffler rich in good-time grooves, warm bass and punchy horn lines. Elsewhere, Sunner Soul does a great job turning Trombone and Roberto's latin jazz-funk jam "Coluna Do Meio" into a shuffling, floor-friendly, mid-tempo disco-house cut, turns The Mighty Ryeders "Evil Vibrations" into a bumpin' filter-house jam ("Funky Vibrations") and re-edits the un-credited "Boogie Land" into a loopy, locked-in roller.

Review: Next up on German imprint Suol is Berlin legend Till Von Sein. He doesn't need a big introduction ahead of them telling you about his brand new EP called 1977 Love. What you perhaps don't know is that 1977 is the year Till was born - and this release is number 077 in the label's catalogue. He's back with more of his distinct blend of dusty and urban flavoured deep house on the jazzy tip. From the soul/funk inflected swagger of "Curtis" with its infectious breakbeats, the straight-ahead four-to-the-floor deep groove of "Stevie" and the emotive "Pepe" which goes for a more emotive, nu-jazz kind of feel that further demonstrates the diversity in this underrated producer's repertoire.
