Review: We know what you like. You want to get gully. Real gully and real fast. Well look no further than "Panic Button". Taking off where "Warning Shots" left us, it's an all-out ripper that shreds with a rough-but-bouncy funk. It's backed by some equally hot hurters: "The Fap" is all about the danger, all sly and white knuckle, "Vitalize" licks and wriggles with warm harmonic texture, trippy flourishes that's not dissimilar to Tyke while "Xhale" concludes affairs with the deepest, funkiest jam of the set with big sweeping synths and groany and insidiously bouncy bassline. Ultrah sonics.

Review: Selector! Jungle Cakes' Welcome To The Jungle series welcomes a bonafide legend to the controls: Ray Keith. Digging deep across the board he's put together over 40 killer tracks from an obscene rollcall: Serum, Vital, Dillinja, Bladerunner, Margaman, T>I, DJ Hybrid, Turno, Filthy Habits, Ed Solo, Deekline and many many more artists are responsible for the savage soul and badman bounce on offer as we're rattled and shaken from pillar to post. From the naughty ragga skanks and turbo reverse bass lashes of Deekline & Ed Solo's "Hot This Year" to Ray's very own seminal "Chopper" via Bladerunner's evergreen breezer "Jungle Jungle" via two mixes and 10 FX tools, this is one of Jungle Cakes' tastiest ever projects to date. Big up the Dark Soldier

Review: Hedex: the hero we need but have never deserved. The man behind some of the bounciest, most out-there jump-up with no fear of formula or convention has finally delivered his debut album and it's every bit as sharp and uncompromised as you'd hoped it would be. The madcap trip of "Gameboy", the unnerving tones and chords on "Dreaming", the paranoid sense-attack of "Finer", the twisted dark hypnosis and double-edged bassline fury of "Trance", the list of highlights goes on and on. Live for The Weekend.

Review: Get your skates on: there's a roller-disco at Midnight Riot HQ and everyone's invited! Naturally, there's heaps of highlights to be found on the imprint's third tribute to the early '80s roller-boogie sound. Amongst the 19 party-starting gems on show you'll fid a brilliant BB Boogie collaboration with original electrofunk sensation Leroy Burgess (the wonderfully soulful "Tonight We're Gonna"), a storming disco-house rub of Tom Vine's "Disco Scene" by Classic chief Luke Solomon, a fantastically rubbery P-funk excursion by C Da Afro and a typically expansive and musically rich Al Kent revision of Soundersons' "He Doesn't Love Me". Throw in killer cuts from Rayko, Sweetoth and Kellini, and you have another stellar collection of skate-ready jams.

Review: There are certainly expectations when you name a tune "Slut Party"; it's got to be sleazy, dirty, sweaty and shaded with a general sense of wrong or the office of fair trading need to be called in. Clearly DJ Pleasure is up to date on consumer laws as the vibe is so stank you need a shower for a week after hearing it. The rest of the EP is pleasantly grubby too; "D'Stress" gets a screaming VIP while NU Elementz adds a little extra laser mischief to "Espanol". Party on dudes.

Review: Valique celebrates six years of consistent edit gold on his 12-year old Vehicle imprint. Digging deep across the collection he whisks us through the feels with a supreme range of instant party-pieces. From the blonde ambition of the slinky "Appelle Moi" to the freaky upbeat ground control of "Oddity" via the insane stretch and slap of "What The Hell?" and his versions of "Human Nation" and "Give Me Shelter", this is an immense set that brings us all up to speed and gets us excited for the next six years of edits. V stands for Very good music.

Review: Lenzman's The North Quarter smashes it once again with another XXXL soul dispatch. This time Submorphics is at the controls. Best known for his work in SGN and Hospital, here he takes a deeper dive into the soulful sound across hip-hop ("Hot Ish"), dreamy early AI-style power liquid ("Don't Be So Cold") sensual hazy steppery ("Watchudo" with the one and only T.R.A.C) and all-out gutsy vocal gold ("Can't Get Over You" with Big Brooklyn Red and Lenz himself) Loaded with interludes and instrumentals, it's another ridiculously on-point collection from the hottest soulful D&B label in the game right now.

Review: Stompz continues to stamp his way into the game with this sickeningly heavy Digital Terror debut. Six tracks in total, each one as dangerous and unruly as the next. Highlights include the weirded out off-beat bass funk of "Bumba", the deep-seeded jungle devilry of "Skullbash" and the staccato drama, paranoid air and unwieldly toxicity of the title "Automata"... But that's only half of the visceral showcase on here. Dig deep and handle with caution!

Review: Hot on the heels of his fittingly titled "So Good" EP on G.A.M.M earlier this year Al Kent returns with a very neat double-A that ticks all the right disco boxes. "Vince" pays respect to Montana with a total dance fantasy, polished and weighted perfectly for today's floors. "Esther" pays equally emphatic dues to the good lady Phillips with a thumping, unabashed twist on "Boy, I Really I Tied One On". Homages don't come with much more respect and craft than these.

"Don't Let It Go 2 Ur Hed" makes you pull up your jeans and pay attention with its lush waving vocals and rolling groove, the string-laden "Keep On Doing Wot Ur Doin" will make you shout 'bo' in the most sensual hip-slinked way imaginable, "Maskerade" is a work of cosmic downbeat dreamy wonder while "Bye!" is a straight up walrus of a dreamboat. Let's hope he's not saying goodbye for too long....

Review: One of the most consistently prolific producers returns once again to Double UV with four more heavyweight showpieces. "The Punishment" has a classic swinging riff bassline and cheeky soul snippets that nestle right behind your ears and into your brain. "The Third Evil" is a more of a roughhouse joint, all scratchy and savage and "All In" takes a slinkier rolling funk approach that's kinda reminiscent of Shimon's late 90s Ram work finally "Baby G" celebrates realness over a venomous snake-like bassline and some stark cinematic string elements. Monotype = the right type.

Review: It's safe to say that the Vandal LTD founders: SKS & Redeyes have certainly done themselves proud on this one as the label brings us the goliath Grand Royal LP. This selection is fantastic, incorporating everything from experimental hip hop to juke to the furthest borders drum & bass can find classification. The whole project just breathes originality, particularly on tracks such as 'Explicit' by NGHT DRPS, which is a very creative half time jungle roller. Another pair of instant favourites are Alerstorm's 'Bak' and 'Zero Caliber' from Balatron, both of which ooze electronic creativity and sound design prowess. This compilation is a phenomenal body of work from start to finish.

Review: It would be fair to say that Eli Escobar's second album, Shout, is not a carefree affair. Inspired by his growing anger at American politics, it's a much more poignant and melancholic affair than his party-hearty debut album. As such, the 15-track set is arguably his strongest collection to date, with cuts such as "Nightmare Rag", the gospel influenced disco deep house cry for freedom "The People", twisted and intense "ANGR", blissfully slick and tactile "City Song" and superb "Going On?" - a kind of sorrowful deep house update of Marvin Gaye's most heartfelt work - proving that Escobar is a far more thoughtful and musically savvy producer than many incorrectly believed. There are plenty of groovy and quietly positive moments, too, fuelled by Escobar's belief that love may be the answer to America's mounting problems.

Review: Ethyene is a producer, DJ and label manager from Lyon in France, delivering house music that finds its roots in the sounds of Detroit, Chicago and Manchester. He has had releases on top labels such as Moonrise Hill Material, Kolour LTD and Editorial to name but a few. He has patented a certain style of mid-tempo house music; applying a french touch aesthetic to disco, r&b and hip-hop sample references. He teams up with Moonrise main man Folamour on the neon-lit boogie down jam "Why My Love", some lo-slung soulful hip-hop on the lush "Why My Love", super sexy deep house for the late night (with an R'n'B edge) on "Loneliness Of The Shadow Dancer" and a sultry nu-jazz beauty to close out the fine EP affectionately titled "I Sold Yayo To Buy Kicks". Washington DC based Better Listen had a great run of releases back in 2017 with Thatmanmonkz, Chevals and Closed Paradise all appearing, and being particular standouts.

Review: Britain's premier disco wookie, Chewy Rubs, has decided to launch his own label, Bandolier Records. Here, he delivers the debut release, an enjoyable mixture of original tracks and sneaky, peak-time re-edits. He begins with the mid-tempo throb of "Baby Get Down", a colourful, bass-heavy fusion of hip-house, boogie and warehouse-friendly deep house, before charging towards peak-time via the classic disco/sparkling nu-disco fusion of "Disco Chicago". "Strange Love" is a pulsating, mind-altering re-edit rich in heavy bass, rising orchestration and cut-up freestyle vocal samples, while fine closer "Watch Out" (co-produced by Charles Christian) sits somewhere between hypnotic, Afro-tinged house and Clavinet-sporting disco-chug.

Review: It was only a matter of time until the Project Allout gang made their 2018 return as they kick the new year off with some serious bassline pressure. This release sees Bristol's own Mindstate team up with the energetic vocals of CAL for an extremely vibrant VIP mix of their earlier collaboration 'Girls'. The VIP see's funky chord patterns and spooky synth leads combine with the vocal presence for an eerie introduction which descends into bassy madness come the breakdown. On remix duty PAR bring forth Ghastly with his much quicker 4x4 rework, Jaikea with his unpredictable recreation and Sheppz Dawgy for a full grimey rethink.

The roomy dynamism on the drums and sudden drop into strange cosmic space slop on "The Bolide" are guaranteed to grab you by the cohones while "Dioxan" throes down a b-boy dual with its bubbling sub funk, twisted bass variations, classic samples and minimal rhythm make-up. Classic Paradox.

Review: On this cheery and DJ-friendly two-tracker, heavyweight nu-disco producer Mighty Mouse delivers a pair of party-starting revisions that sit somewhere between straight-up, scalpel style re-edits and sneaky remixes. The most startling of the two tracks is "Midnight Mouse (Revised)", a new version of a 2011 re-edit that makes merry with a 1970s Swedish disco-pop anthem. While the famous vocals and sing-along chorus finally make an appearance in the final two minutes, this rush is built up to via an acid-flecked fusion of Italo-disco and head-nodding nu-disco chug. "Time Out Of Mind", on the other hand, is a more traditional re-edit of what sounds like a West Coast jazz-rocker's take on New York disco.

Review: More seriously sensual material from Montenegro's Mitiko. "Blue Cab Adventure" hits with a west coast feel, all warm synths and neo soul feels. "Every Street Brother" takes us straight to the heart of Chicago with a steely sense of funk while "Money Money Money" hits the money spot with a deep driving slo-mo 4/4 stamp that really gets under your skin and makes your body thrust in ways you didn't think were possible. Shake your money makers!

Review: More than a few eyebrows were raised at Junodownload HQ when we first heard this fine EP from Marcus Worgull, which marks his return to Innervisions after a three-year absence. While the title track is in some ways typical of the label's output in recent years - think Balearic guitars and passionate Americana vocals over a slick and hypnotic tech-house beat - the other two tracks are a notable departure. Both explore the sub-heavy swing of authentic dub-house, with alluring, speaker rattling, delay-laden, percussion rich shuffle of opener "Skango" particularly impressive. "Seen", where dub bass and rolling deep house beats are encased in bubbly electronics and smile-inducing synth riffs, is also impressive.

Review: More from eccentric Swede Arvid Svetman AKA Your Planet is Next, a producer who delivered top notch EPs for Klasse Wrecks and Acid Waxa in 2017. This second outing on home city imprint Studio Barnhus is predictably impressive, too. Check, in particular, the sprightly peak-time bounce of opener "Laid Back", which sounds like a more acid-influenced take on similarly quirky Noze cut "Remember Love", and the TB-303-sporting, breakbeat driven, Chicago hip-house style craziness of "Youngman". Elsewhere, "Some Sounds" is a deep, slow, woozy and occasiuonally melancholic saunter through Tevo Howard style deep synth-pop territory, while "High Fidelity" is a quirky and bass-heavy chunk of skewed breakbeat silliness.

Review: Karmon Spiekermann has previously released EPs on Diynamic but now gets the opportunity to contribute to the label's Picture series. These releases are meant to provide an insight into the creative mind of an artist and this edition shows that Karmon is in reflective, at times sombre mood. "Eleventh Hour" is a low-slung, grungy bass-led groove, while on "Acido", the Dutch producer moves into full-on dance floor mode with a dark, 303-led workout. Meanwhile, "Holding Pattern" borrows from the trance of Spiekermann's home country, but adds some eerie undercurrents, while on "Major Minor", Karmon takes pushes his dark mood to its logical conclusion with a pulsing, frazzled techno track.

Review: Legendary German DJ/producer David "Move D" Moufang first appeared on Electric Minds back in 2013. "To The Disco '77" was an undoubted highlight of that EP and here gets the remix treatment from the man himself. His "Live Rework" is a wonderfully loose and lucid affair, with quietly jazzy guitars, New Jersey garage organs and headline-grabbing vocal samples wrapping themselves around foreboding, low-end chords and nifty, on the fly drum machine programming. Moufang joins forces with Mister Saturday Night man Justin Carter for "Leaves (Basement Demo)", a wonderfully deep, rich and spacey house cut that recalls the long-serving German producer's intelligent techno era output (albeit with the added warmth of head-in-the-clouds deep house).

The cosmic reverse textures on "No More" will stop you in your tracks, the mystical desert-like balm of "Confrontacion" you warm your very heart while the churchy echoes and springy think break on "Charon Orbit" will send you packing to the centre of the dancefloor. Review: Being one the UK's standout bass music labels of 2018, we expected nothing less than a kickstart to 2018 from Brighton based collective: Southpoint. For STPT035 they join forces with Leominster's own grime hot shot Jakebob for a real journey of a six tracker. This EP explores the full breadth of Jakebob's highly melodic sound. For instance, the airy flutes across 'Wolf Whistle', the skippy choir driven arrangement of 'Dusties' alongside Lingers and the beautifully applied asian scales of 'Surai' in collaboration with Drax show a softer side of his production. On the other side of the EP we hear the more pulsating sounds of the title track 'Champion', 'Rago' in collaboration with Razor who lays down a lethal vocal feature. On remix duty, Albzzy steps forward with his fantastic dubstep rework of the 'Champion'.

Review: Zurich based label Ararat Masis are back after a great inaugural release from Nico Sun last year. For their second release, they have invited five great artists. They bring a new form of warm and cosy melodies from the region of the holy mountain of Ararat to the world. These five dynamic artists are creating a complete new way to experience oriental originated sounds, with their understanding of blending these tunes with energetic electronic elements. Oceanvs Orientalis is a collective formation founded by Safak Oz Kutle, which aims to challenge the aesthetic perception in electronic music. On "Lycian Waltz" we hear the Turkish producer delve deep into the exotic on this hazy and low slung affair. Dance Spirit & LUM deliver some deep and atmospheric tech house on the slinky "Calumet" where the American-Argentine duo really deliver the goods. Finally, Istanbul's Baris K never fails to impress - as anyone who has witnessed one of his mazing DJ sets will attest. His contribution takes you deep into the Middle Eastern after hours scene, on this smoky/dusty exploration in deepness.

Review: The rise of the titans right here! The two biggest hi-tech soul merchants from the United Kingdom team up here on Spanish imprint Suara, for some epic and futurist dancefloor drama on "Rise". Strict rhythms accompany layer upon layer of warm emotive pads and soaring synth leads - as you'd expect from the duo. Their further homage to Detroit (via Glasgow and London) continues on second original offering "Variable Slope" which brings the funk with its bleepy bassline and killer groove for a life affirming dancefloor journey. There's a couple of killer remixes too. French sonic wizardry from the one and only Voiski: who leivers a scorching rendition, plus a lovely neon-lit classic house perspective from the controversial Marquis Hawkes . If that was not enough, a sombre, deep electro re-take on the aforementioned "Rise" by Leipzig's Lake People caters to a more downbeat moment.

Melodious and atmospheric throughout, Chardonnay sees the producer deliver a quartet of spacey and becalmed deep house cuts rich in vintage drum machines and Motor City techno inspired electronics. Highlights-wise, we'd point you towards the gentle positivity of "Chardonnay", with its' vintage Floating Points style synthesizer flourishes, though many DJs will undoubtedly be drawn towards the chunky low-end hustle, tough beats and repetitive string samples of "Club Tool 6". We can see the intergalactic bliss and rolling deep house warmth of "The Spot" getting plenty of club plays, too.

This time he teams up with the Duploc network for a powerhouse EP, featuring two absolute corker originals. On the A side we hear the monstrous sound design of 'Float Yourself', complete with spacious percussive tones and spooky atmospherics. On the flip we the amphibian arrangement of 'Sword Art' which focuses more on bass rhythms, original synthesis and metallic snare sounds. What an EP this is to kick the year off for both Duploc and Hebbe.

Review: In its original Prins Thomas 5 album form, "Lunga Strada" was something of a glistening Scandolearic treat - a sublime fusion of cascading, jazzy guitar solos, sun-ripe organ chords and layered, loose percussion. Who better to remix it, then, than Lyon-based Hawiaan shirt enthusiasts turned nu-Balearic kings Pilotwings? Naturally, the resultant reworks are little less than superb. They begin with the humid, kaleidoscopic fusion of the Bubble Zouk Mix, which utilizes synthesizer panpipe melodies, loose synth-pop drums and a skip-load of happy pills to transform the Norwegian's original version into a kind of tropical Balearic boogie masterclass. The "loved-up in the jungle" feel is heightened further by their Bonus Beats version, a dense percussion workout full of tribal drums and sampled chants.

Review: Dutch conceptual label Who's Susan are back after a slew of awesome releases by scene favourite DJ Windows XP. This time they have recruited the services of London's Federico Lange (Axe On Wax Records) and Deejay Astral (Steel City Discs/Shall Not Fade - now based in Berlin) for some nifty lo-fi house shenanigans. Lange is up first with the moody late night jack of "Electric Relaxation" and gets things off to a great start, leading up to the tough and swing fuelled roller "Shut 'Em Down" which is covered in a nice sheen of dust: this will appeal to fans of Robsoul or I'm A House Gangster style stuff. Samuel 'Astral' Walker's contributions take a much more mature approach and flirt with the deeper end of the spectrum. The emotive and sombre introversion of "Duality" respectfully takes it cues from greats like Larry Heard or Theo Parrish, while "Metaphysical Therapy" is more upbeat take on classic US house from the early '90s.
