Faith / San Diago (Remixes By Prins Thomas/Medlar/Dele Sosimi/Rahaan)
San Diago (Rahaan remix) - (6:41) 57 BPM
Review: Barcelona-based Arnau Obiols has chalked up releases on such respected labels as Local Talk, Ibadan and Compost, and now returns to the latter in the company of Zurich's KAYYAK. Together they serve up two tracks that draw heavily on 70s Afro-funk for inspiration, with 'Faith' coming with a slightly mellower remix courtesy of Medlar & Dele Sosimi while 'San Diago' gets two rerubs, with Rahaan giving the track a slightly jazzier, more leftfield makeover while Prins Thomas's Diskomix transforms it into a slab of percussive, slo-mo disco. Any/all should go down well on floors where Afro-oriented beats are in demand.

Real Dread EP
Real Dread EPEXCLUSIVE
Spellbound - (5:11) 58 BPM
Review: The most prolific man in drum & bass, Conrad Subs returns to Ray Keith's Dubplate Dread for the first time since 2020 with a humungous wedge of wallopers. Seven cuts in total, each one of them tailored for those magic 3am moments, big moments range from the gruesome growls and grizzles of 'Octavirus' to the pure raucous shreds and slaps of the title track 'Real Dread', a cut which really does live up to its name. Oh boy, this could well be Conrad Subs' mightiest EP so far, which is really saying something. Real talk.

Donnell Pitman, Wings Of Sunshine & E. Live - "Get Next To You Ft. Anda" (original mix) - (5:27) 59 BPM
Donnell Pitman & Wings Of Sunshine - "Do You Wanna" (extended album mix) - (4:59) 57 BPM
Review: Next month sees the release of Chicago veteran Donnell Pitman's debut long-player 'Brand New Funk' - an album that's long overdue, considering that he made his recording debut way back in 1969! The album's been trailed by a couple of single/EP releases already and now making its debut is 'Tonight', a team-up with (as ever) Chi-town young bloods Wings Of Sunshine as well as the mysterious E.Live and Anda. Once again, smooth and soulful 80s-style boogie is the order of the day, with the package rounded out by four previously released jams: 'Summertime Girls', 'Do You Wanna', 'Get Next To You' and the rawer, funkier 'Joog With Me'.

The Imposter EP
Trippin' - (4:54) 58 BPM
Played by: Bladerunner
Review: Man like Kublai returns to Total Science's label with some of his darkest, dankest, dirtiest designs to date. 'Big Talk' takes the lead with a big old b2b2b in the studio as Kubbie, TS and Minor Forms all get mucky in the action. Elsewhere 'The Imposter' goes for a classic wormy bassline tension, 'Trippin' is pure filth laced over scattershot drums (with more filth thrown in for good measure) while 'Sullied' closes the EP on a pranged out drone tone. Exceptional drum & bass craft here.

Shut The Lights Out
Shut The Lights Out - (4:19) 55 BPM Hot
Shut The Lights Out (extended mix) - (6:51) 55 BPM
Shut The Lights Out (Birdee extended remix) - (6:39) 58 BPM
Review: "Shut The Lights Out" is a funky throwback brimming with infectious energy, courtesy of Berlin production duo Lovebirds and vocalist NILE. Lovebirds channel their well-regarded love for 70s and 80s sounds into a groovy production. The foundation is an arresting funk beat, bolstered by classic disco instrumentation and dreamy synths. NILE's vocals are the perfect compliment, with a motivational spoken-word style that adds another layer of interest. The package is completed by a remix from disco aficionado Birdee, who takes the original's sparkling energy and adds their own signature touch. Birdee's remix is an upbeat and spacey take, perfect for extending the dancefloor journey.

Take Me Up - (2:59) 58 BPM
Review: Vibe Chemistry applies the science once again as his Make Your Era laboratory welcomes another chemical solution: Medicine. Having broken through on Diligent Fingers' Spynal in 2022, Medicine has since gone on to smash it on Kingdom and Gorilla Warfare and is now already at debut album level with 'The Line'. Hitting all the right spots, the album is a full trip into the heart of the dancefloor with naughty ravey numbers like 'Take Me Up', big vocal cuts such as 'Let Me Go Now' and sexy, sweaty weapons like 'Make It Rain' and plenty of heaters in between. High recommended. Follow 'The Line'!

Revenant EP
I Don't Need - (5:16) 59 BPM
Bleak - (4:34) 58 BPM
Review: Melinki and Shodan on Rebel Music? Now this is a serious meeting of the minds! Proper adult tackle, too, as you'd expect. 'Revenant' is all about the boa constrictor like bassline slugging around the gaff, prone to crush at any minute, while 'I Don't Need' takes us more of a rampant junglised spree, all turbo breaks and a gritty sense of urgency. Finally we hit the sonic skids with 'Bleak'. Proper grumbly, grizzly moody drum & bass for late night basements. High grade.

Can You Ride A Camel?
Price Of Freedom - (8:41) 70 BPM
Spark - (7:20) 67 BPM
Welcome To The Dark Net - (8:10) 68 BPM
Review: Noor apparently means 'light' in both Hebrew and Arabic, so it's a fitting name for a project that sees Israeli psy-trance veteran Ofer Dikovsky, AKA Oforia, blending a wide range of Middle Eastern musical influences with an equally wide range of western, electronic flavours. 'Can You Ride A Camel?' is his second long-player released under the Noor banner and really is an incredibly diverse affair, ranging over the course of its 1h 47m from the downtempo, jazzy and Balearic-leaning to pumping trance, techno and breaks... sometimes within the course of a single track! Not gonna pick any standouts here, because this is a truly unique-sounding album that really deserves to be heard in its entirety.

Musica E Computer
La Domenica Del Villaggio - (0:43) 76 BPM
Review: Fabrizio Mammarella and Rodion deliver a momentous release with Musica E Computer - recorded in the legendary Marche Synth Museum in Italy. The opening track "Iris" sets an exceptional tone, exploring eerie, metallic tropical landscapes, while others like "A Corrente Alternata" and "Un Segnale Di Speranza" showcase Mammerella and Rodion's unmatched partnership, crafting enigmatic, timeless earworms with driving basslines and arcane vocoders. Throughout the album, the duo seamlessly blends synthetic and organic sounds, offering a geographic coda to the Italian region's rich musical history. Musica E Computer culminates in "Una Nuova Era", a transcendent homage to the recording synth drenched studio the album was recorded in which makes for some Italorama to the fullest!

Fleuron Drift
Fleuron Drift (Kassian remix) - (6:14) 68 BPM
Review: Sasha's latest single Fleuron Drift marks yet another milestone in the electronic maestro's illustrious career. Collaborating with Theo Kottis and Kassian for remixes on his own label (Last Night On Earth ), Sasha continues to redefine the boundaries of sonic intrepidation. The original track is a deeper journey, meticulously crafted with evolving synth layers and hypnotic drum patterns that culminate in a euphoric breakdown. Theo Kottis injects his remix with dynamic energy, featuring tech-leaning drums and glitchy textures for peak dance floor moments. Kassian's rendition then offers a quicker pace, blending funk-infused drums with soaring synth tension, promising to transport listeners yet more electronic bliss fit for a final night on this world. Drift away.

Butter Notes
Regrets Memories And Dreams - (7:57) 79 BPM
Review: Trip-hop/downtempo veterans The Deadbeats return with what by our reckoning is their sixth album, and their fifth on their own Space Hopper label. 'Butter Notes' opens with the Massive Attack-esque 'I Don't Believe' - all luxuriant strings and looping rap vocal snips - then moves on through six more slices of prime mid-paced chillage, blending influences from Balearica, broken beat, lo-fi hip-hop and funk before concluding with the suitably epic and expansive 'Am I Eternal'. If you've enjoyed any of their previous albums you're highly likely to enjoy this one as well, with the standout for this reviewer being 'Dark Forest', which adds some dubby flourishes to what it otherwise a fairly standardised blueprint. Still, if ain't broke, etc...

Skeptical & Loxy - "Krakoa" - (5:19) 57 BPM
Mark System - "Chinook" - (7:43) 57 BPM
Review: Hitting us like clockwork, every three months since last October, Exit 100 EPs have been an exceptional journey into the label and everything it's stood for since launching 21 years ago. Over the last two EPs we've had all kinda of beat wizardry and boundary burning but for this one it's all about the cutting edge drum & bass. Each cut is a highlight but Loxy & Resound's 'Tyranny' is a direct trip back to 97, Skeptical & Kid Drama's 'Scorn' is a hearty homage to Krust and Mark System's 'Chinook' is every bit the take-off tune you'd expect from it title. Get to the chopper!

Yes Basketball - "Next" - (3:29) 60 BPM
Review: Laurent Garnier and Scan X's label does a great job in showcasing emerging and established talent, and this split release is no exception. The brilliantly named Return Of The Luddites deliver the raw electro-techno of "Scream Into The Darkness". In stark contrast, Detroit techno-inspired tracks also loom large, courtesy of Skatman's string-filled "Tribute To A Dancefloor" and Squal G's more ominous "Waiting 4U". Mirroring Garnier's own wide-ranging tastes, the release also features the call and response hip-hop/drum'n'bass crossover of Joaquim Plossu, Salem Focus and Phoebe Train's "Theory Of The Tide". Taking the tempo down, Yes Basketball's "Next" is a slowed down, bugged out beatsy track.
