Review: Deep in the Jungle continue their onwards march with this, the seventh edition in their widely acclaimed Anthems series, a compilation that always finds the ideal mix of current and future talent to showcase. In the case of the former, well-travelled producers Epicentre and Kumarachi roll things out and tear them down on 'Light Em Up', which features a gnarly array of interlinked bass nodes and torn low frequency sonics, al underpinned by a percussion section that's the perfect blend of rusty and sharp. New talent emerges in the form of Trobe and Mirage, who have their first label release with '89', although you wouldn't have guessed it based off this tune's razor clean percussive edge and expert use of space, a hard thing to get right and one this pair blow out the water here. Rave samples, expansive basslines and a synth arrangement you won't be able to shake - unmissable. 34 tracks later and Deep in the Jungle have nailed every single one of them - big ups.

Review: Lion Dub have reached a decade of activity. A decade! To put it in perspective, if someone was born the year Liondub started, they're about to enter high school/secondary school. It's a crazy achievement and one matched by the craziness of the music they have on offer to celebrate, a four-part journey through their past, present and future. This instalment is all about their past and it's exemplified best by Serum's VIP of Sound The Alarm, a Liondub classic, which Serum has flipped into a characteristically badboy, stabbing little roller. The vocals float above in a haze of reggae smoke, whilst the beat pulsates below. Awesome stuff.

Review: Moonshine's manoeuvres in the deep continue to impress with this highly accomplished collaborative remix album. A throwback to their original Steppin' Forward album - released March 2014 - the Jamaican label have given each contributor the parts to a fellow label mate's tune and asked them to get creative. The results are as consistent and progressive as the original. Every track is a highlight but stand-out essentials include the bubblesome digidub of Bukkha's juicy switch on Tuff & Powa's "Outlaw Music", Adam Prescott's sinewy shakedown of RSD's "Know U 2" and the foamy subs and wriggling melodica on Roommate's version of Alpha Steppa's "Shinkansen".

This EP is a joyful twist and skank through vintage vocal riffs and rose-tinted ragga sounds with the deceitfully dark edge of his perfectly tuned bass programming. Simultaneously as gritty as it is joyous, each track give listeners (and DJs alike) the choice of vocal and dub mixes - although we'd seriously recommend the former. Review: As always with the legendary production styles of 6Blocc has provided us with some sizzling flavours on this spicy, extensive new refix collection, taking the title 'Dub Marley'. Reworking numerous works from the most famous name in reggae music, 6Blocc does what he does best, pulling older tunes into the here and now through a combination of junglist and dubwise production approaches. The project as a whole is pretty exceptional, with numerous classics from the late great Bob being thrown in for multiple recreations, including 'Forever In Dub', 'Revolution, 'Ganja Gun' and more. For us there are a couple of clear standouts, with the '140 Steppers Remix' version of 'Running Away' and the highly energetic drum skips and breaksy rolls of 'Stir It Up' being the two that immediately jump out from this impressive selection.

Review: DJ Muggs producer and self-styled woofer cooker, LA's 6Blocc enjoys an illustrious heritage, and a very exciting future. Fusing the best elements of jungle, ragga, bass music and dubstep, "Serious" flexes around a very well known horn sample and some guttural lyrics flows from Junior Demus. Four-version heavy, it ranges from the full-bodied, breakbeat-heavy original to the thugged-out Miami bass style 808 twist. "Give Love" takes the skank factor further to the fore as Demus gets sexy over a groove that teases with so much digidub pleasure it's likely to stick in your brain. Finally we hit "Jungle Stabbin." All rusty amens and mangled horns, it lives up to its title in every possible way. Lighter!

On one side tracks come out warped and unintelligible, but on the other, when things go right, a new freshness is added to classic sounds, bringing relevance and a re-imagined heaviness to well-loved tunes. 6blocc spends his life doing the latter. A massive jungle fan from day zero, he's currently travelling the expanse of America on a tour to educate the masses about jungle etiquette. Review: Digital 6 are coming out with a really unique EP from 6BLOCC, who has taken it upon himelf to give Jay Z the bootleg treatment across six different tracks, all of them classics like New York State of Mind and 99 Problemz. The former of those is a real highlight of the EP, with those eminently recognisable piano chords floating out across the top of some naughty breaks and Jay Z's famous rapping skills. It's a slick release and one that will definitely please any of you hip-hop heads.

Taking samples from the film and weaving them into gully floor heaters, 6Blocc shows us his darkest skills with a palette of sounds. "Church Booty" refuses to quit with its relentless back/forth sub ripples, "Crenshaw & Century" is a Tom & Jerry level jungle joint full of twisted amen edits and Ice Cube freshness, "In The Hood" slinks and tickles with "Pulp Fiction" style minimalism while "Mark" flips the mean and moody halftime bird with cosmic grit. Review: Earlier this year while in Sacramento, 6Blocc set up a meeting with Junior Demus to discuss dubplates. What became of that day was three tracks for Digital 6, one of which has been spun on its head by no less than seven very different producers. Enter "Jungle Stabbin'", first taken on by the legendary Marcus Visionary who puts a dancehall spin to the tropical sounds, before 6Blocc take on his own work for a switched-down, hip-swaying, dubbed-out take. Rootikal strips it back to original reggae stylings in his offerings, with a particularly nice brass hook added to the final track.

This mammoth album show cases the 'Best Of' the imprint with a massive 36 tacks. Ranging from the gloriously sun-kissed, ragga jungle tips 'Let's Go This On' and 'Stay Strong VIP' to the hard hitting hip hop dipped 'In The Hood' and 'Gotcha Back'. The album also comes with some interesting remixes like the dark and brooding jungle remix of '50,000 Watts and the beautifully sinister remix of Portishead's 'Humming Darkside'. If you're into eclectic, well-crafted quality drum and bass, this album is well worth the long listen.

Review: There has been nothing released by dubstep stalwart Raoul Gonzalez under his 6Blocc alias so far this year, but now the Lo Dubs regular returns to the fray with this fresh bag of tricks for Digital 6. "Babylon Blood Sucka" is a slow-stepping jam with a great vocal sample, while "Rudeboy (Dub)" brings even more roots flavours into the mix alongside plenty of jungle break heat. "Arrriginal" is equally fuelled by reggae skanks and dub FX with some of the old-skool grit, before "Afrika (dub)" ramps up the intensity with some monstrous bass and tribal percussion. "Bad Attitude (Dub)" finishes the EP off with a heavy swanging lurcher that counts amongst the heaviest on the release.

Review: Last spotted messing with the Wu, 6Blocc takes us even further back in time for his own dub side of the moon. A true Floydian odyssey rebooted for the modern bass lover, subtly is the name of 6Blocc's game: the paranoid, way-ahead-of-its-time "Run" gets a lick of 303 and swinging breakbeat, "Speak" retains all its dreamy majesty while the iconic moans and cries of "Sky" are stretched out from midnight fumble to 24-hour marathon. Elsewhere the till-chiming riff of "Money" is smothered in blankets of sub while "Colour" is galvanised with a classic Dig Your Own Hole era big beat. To some this may err on heresy, but to others this is a trip like no other. See you on the other side.

Review: 6Blocc has never been busier... Released in the same week as his Cali Jungle LP, "Gritty N Grimey" showcases the slower, dubbed-out side to his repertoire. Eight tracks in total, here we find the prolific producer nestling comfortably in the 140 BPM realm. "Badbwoy Bass" is deep, minimal and coded with a subtle skank, "Deadly Techniques" is a strung slice of filmic wild west bass while "Afghan Memories" takes us even deeper into spacious territories as eastern twangs fuse with epic sub drones with mesmerising effect. Deeper again we hit more highlights such as the twisted vocal loops of "Brainwasher" and the Kryptic Minds-style amen stepper "Have No Mercy". Heavy.
