Review: Diving into the heart of modernised techno heat, we see the Keysound team back in action once again as they welcome a wicked combination of Krypsis & 9TRANE for two explosive new heaters. First up, we enter the dungeon as the glistening delays and mind-melting reese textures of 'Hollow Point' are ushered forward, giving us gritty subs to wade through, atop clicky percussive perfection for a wild introductory original. From here, we then explore the depths of 'Box', another haunted creation, fusing eerie atmospheric pad textures with ghostly harmonics and hard hitting drum work, all glued together with some of the most hard hitting sub work we have heard this year. Review: Making a sideways move from its signature bass and techno, eatmybeat welcomes 9Trane aka Elliot Lea to the fold. The title track is a low-slung roller, centred on a menacing bass and featuring tripped out MCing. On "MOAT", 9Trane maintains a similar tempo. However, on this occasion, the arrangement centres on fractured drums, with spooky vocal samples that are woven into swirling synth lines. "Trackside" raises the tempo and intensity level, with 9Trane delivering a rolling, bass-heavy techno workout. "GONE4AMIN" meanwhile is a halfway house between electro and techno, with a throbbing bass and rolling break beats providing the basis for urgent siren riffs and chopped up vocal samples.

The sheer mass of this collection is one of it's immediate charms as we are gifted over 50 originals and remixes, each one bringing something unique to the table from a supporting cast including the likes of Origin8a & Propa, Benton, MKII, Deekline, Samurai Breaks and more. The constant changes of direction and expansionary sense of sonic inclusion are both big yesses from us, with our favourites including 9Trane's nostalgic bubbler 'Thuggish', next to the housey piano drives of Herve's 'Live Together' and the old school garage flavour of Matt Jam Lamont, Echelon & Tuff Culture, who join focus for 'Massive & Crew'. Tidy work indeed!

Review: The first volume of Hardcore Energy Introducing is considered an essential selection of rave material by a new generation of producers, packed full of nostalgia that will transport you back to the halcyon days of the Free Party scene: think pirate radio, warehouse raves and dancing in the fields. It opens up with the proto-jungle roller by Tribe Steppaz & 6Blocc "Down With The Underground", then comes a throwback to the loved-up euphoria of the early '90s on 9Trane's "Thuggish", while Farayen takes us back to the second summer of love beneath the M25 on "Can't Take It" and Sharpson is the real star on here with two tracks - his finest being "I Think I Know This One" which harks back to the R&S glory days.

Review: For their fifth grime project, the 1Forty team really have gone all out, inviting some of the most popular names in the 140 scene to take part in this monstrous selection of bangers. We begin with Hamdi's 'Raw', a behemoth of a riddim, dripping with vibrant LFO energies and skippy drum structures, closely followed by the lethal steppers link up from 9TRANE and Logan entitled 'Evil Side'. We move back into instrumental madness next as ManGo delivers an old school squarewave explosion entitled 'XO', before YGG leap onto an incredibly energetic piece of production from 'JHuttz' on 'Royals' to round this one off in style.
