Review: What an awesome link up we have here, diving headfirst into the tranquil waters of abstractivity on Deep Dark & Dangerous, who welcome the top notch combination of Hypho, Abstrakt Sonance & Megumi Hope inside for a saucy selection of trippy originals. The main centrepiece of this EP is of course the blissful vocal prowess of Megumi Hope, who opens up the party with a wistful sweeping performance on 'My Mind', behind which we of course hear the production-lead genius of Hypho & Sonance ring true, Next 'What Is Freedom' explores more eastern-inspired percussive melodies and an overall more unpredictable feel from Hypho & Sonance's production pallet, with 'Brave' then being a more triplet-inspired rhythmic roller, focusing on sitar-driven harmonies to match. Finally, the slightly slowed drumlines and more ethereal backdrops of 'Maya' give us a ghostly closer, rounding off this awesome collection in style.

Review: Whenever we see that Wheel & Deal badge make an appearance in the store we are thrilled with a real thrill, knowing the business is going to be taken care of. This time around they welcome the bulbous bassy designs of Abstrakt Sonance inside for a mega crunchy display, kicking off with the high intensity drum bubbles of 'Hashtag', assisted perfectly by the instantly recognizable vocal mastery of Slowie! It's difficult to maintain this level of high-octane flavour, but the follow up in 'Soulless' gives us a sub-busting smack of lethal synthesiser fuel, warbling freely across an open backdrop of spacey reverbs and the occasional pad pluck. Finally, the instrumental dub version of 'Hashtag' is given out as a closing treat, rounding off another impressive drop from the Wheel & Deal family.

Review: Whenever we see that Deep Dark & Dangerous have returned we find ourselves filled with happiness, as they this time welcome the combined abilities of Coltcuts & Abstrakt Sonance inside for a glittering four-track display. We open up with the wooden percussive plucks and choppy drum falls of 'Genetic Code', which gives us a unique introductory arrangement before the more wobbly LFO action of 'Hard Work' sends us into a vat of acidic enjoyment. Next the pulsating bass smashes of 'Placebo' give us a truly unique creation, dripping in syncopated swampy rhythms, with Trigga's wicked vocal addition of 'Double Murder' giving us a haunted outro track, again laced with brass-driven musicality and an overall eerie feel. Excellent!

Review: Now we have been big fans of Infernal Sounds here at JunoDownload for a hot minute, so when we saw they had enlisted the assistance of two of the most consistent dubstep dons out there in Hypho & Abstrakt Sonance, we were filled with joy. This collaborative masterclass in dungeon-applicable bass design is a sonic episode you won't want to miss, kicking off with 'Bad Talk' a sub-shivering combination of dubwise drum delays and sweeping bass action. Next, prepare to lose all sense of time and space as the scattered rhythms and downright dissonant 8bit blasts of 'Nintendo' send your synapses completely sideways. To round off, Rakjay joins the pair for a lively vocal display on 'Take It Or Leave It', which provides us with a darkened outro, complete with a dancefloor ready VIP mix for good measure!

Following outings like 'Black Pearl' and 'Systematic Ruling' earlier this year comes another dark, deadly piece. Released on Shadow Demon, this one is Manchester to the core as Trigga analyses his rise over some mean and lean halftime vibes. Unhurried, tense and loaded with a message we can all identify with. Review: This most recent dubstep boom has pushed forward some incredible new releases to say the least, with this brand new collaborative effort from Abstrakt Sonance & ColtCuts instantly landing near the top of the tree. We kick this one off with the warbling sub-textures and eastern inspired string plucks of Abstrakt's solo contribution 'Attitude' before the thick bass grinds and sumptuous harmonics of their first collaboration 'Hidden Agenda'. Next up, the two link up again on 'Space Case', an unpredictable, system-ready goliath, combining reesey synthesizer smacks with powerful drum delays, before ColtCuts rounds off proceedings with the grimey melodies and powerful drum processing of 'The Sacred One'. This is an excellent outing from both parties and we can't wait to hear each and every track in the dance!

Review: Boy oh boy what a year it has been for the Duploc family, who despite all the madness of 2020 have still kept up their incredible run of consistency, dropping nothing but bangers throughout the duration. This, presumably their final drop of the year sees them pull together a monstrous roster, featuring the likes of Cartridge, BunZer0, Ourman, Opus, Teffa, Sam Cosmic, Xakra and many more to give us one final celebratory look into dubstep in the modern era. The complete track listing is absolutely bonkers to tell you all the truth, with quality leaking out of every single original. Some favourites we have to mention however of course include the sizzling bass designs and spooky textures of Wraz's 'Ghost', alongside the fluttering flute melodies of Mani's 'Secret Forest' and 'Gibberish', a super smooth subby glider from Surreal & Somah.

Review: The Deep Dark & Dangerous team really do have a top knack for spotting and crafting high end releases, with this brand new 'Ishtar' album from Abstrakt Sonance being yet another winner. Featuring 17 incredible originals, it's a masterpiece of 140 themes and dubstep influences, from the grizzling reeses of 'Mindstate' and subtle sitar slides of 'From Wallah With Love' to the percussive brilliance of 'Beautiful Time To Be Alive' and system ready sub-marches of 'Deep In The Jungle'. There's just so much to enjoy throughout the project, including some high end collaborations, which sees the likes of D Double E, Killa P, Long Range, Crowell, Vandull and EniGMA Dubz all get involved with top quality contributions.

Review: Trigga is an MC on fire at the momentum, having featured on Bou's renowned tune 'Veteran', and this time around he's on Shadow Demon along with Abstrakt Sonance, and the pair have collaborated on a devilishly potent single. It's minimal yet cut through with jump flavours, and it's the balance of the two which will strike you most, it's not overbearing or screeching but balanced perfectly. It gives space for the vocals to breathe and Trigga is given room to really shine as an MC and the workload is split right down the middle. Big stuff.

Review: It has been a seriously long while since we saw dubstep in such a strong position, with an incredible selection of newcomers making their way to the forefront and a number of the old guard continuing to up the levels. This latest single drop from the team at Sentry sees three powerhouses in Abstrakt Sonance, Substance and Pushloop come together for a grimey roller on an official 'Smoking Blunts' remix. Pushloop gives this one a seriously gritty edge, using stunning horn stabs and warbling metallic bass stabs in a perfect call and response motion. This one will most certainly be lighting up dances up and down the country.

Review: As ever with the Duploc team, they have assembled an EP of pure quality as they invite a cohort of their finest into the fray for the second chapter of 'Duploc Selects'. From the off highlights include the regal horn tones and catchy melodies of 'Cumulus' from Cartridge, before the gnarly bass tones and crispy drum slaps of 'What Are You Saying' land, courtesy of Dalek One. Drumterror also combines sharp drums and chiming patterns in 'Mineral' before Feonix fuses experimental drum arrangements and super-deep sub pressure on 'Lost & Direct', with the glitchy plucks and wavy leads of Ghostek's 'Seek War' putting the icing on the cake. A very strong selection indeed.

Review: Is there any surprise that this combo is as good as it is? Whenever we see Tru Thoughts touchdown we know we are in for a wicked ride, however, when you then throw both the legendary vocals of Irah and smooth production stylings of Abstrakt Sonance into the blend, we are onto something truly special. The title track 'Duppy Show' is a perfectly produced gnarly exploration between dubstep and eastern themes, topped off by Irah's demonic vocal presence. The more grimey influenced tastings of 'No Smoke' follows, with urgent horns leading the way between Irah's hard hitting vocal melodies. Finally, 'Busy With The Gang' finishes everything off in style, with additional vocal support and surging dubstep style subs doing major damage.
