Review: Acaera has mainly released on Edit Select. Now he brings his hypnotic techno sound to Portal. Unfold opens in dramatic fashion with "Apex". Centred on a throbbing, pulsating bass, it also reverberates to ghostly sighs and razor-sharp percussion. "Anaesthesia" has a similarly hypnotic aesthetic, with a muddy bass underpinning brooding sound scapes. Meanwhile, on "Learned Behaviour", a stark rhythm and steely hi-hats underpin static dub sounds and breathy textures. The only divergence from this path occurs on "Forella". Eschewing the dance floor, it sees the London-based producer drop subtle break beats and searing, frazzled tones that still pack a mighty punch.
