Review: Placid the highly anticipated volume eight of its compilation-style Eps on his label We're Going Deep label. With each release, Placid consistently surprises and delights listeners with timeless-sounding, exquisitely produced tracks that seamlessly blend deep house, electro, acid, and sci-fi techno elements. It starts with the mesmerizing dancefloor wooziness of "Dublovr" by Affie and Leila Yusuf, featuring melodious and acid-flecked vibes. Zobol's "Sense The Consensus" followed by offering a warmth electro bliss while we dive into the depths of the musical abyss with Acidulant's "The View of Her Shade" delivering ultra-deep and eyes-closed acid electro. The EP closes with Type-303's exceptional "Knowhere", blending intergalactic soundscapes with dramatically pitched-down proto-jungle beats.

Review: Working under their vowel-free side project, veteran duo Hardfloor kick-starts this acid-focused split release. "The Unknown Mailman" is a classic slice of 303 drama, with acid lines peaking and ebbing continuously. Acidulant goes down a similar route on the rolling snares of "Reposition", while Mark Archer explores a different approach on "Flangacid". With a focus on a darker sound, he drops tortured tweaks over a steely rhythm. The release also features two deviations from this approach. Elisa Bee's "Full Time Dreamers" weaves acid into a break beat fuelled hardcore track. At the other end of the spectrum, Mutex drops the deep techno of "Jack4Acid".

Review: For the second outing on their eponymous label, Co-Accused draw on a cast of like-minds to deliver a peak-time split release. The Scottish duo's own storming "PA2 Crew" sets the tone for the EP, with hardcore stabs, vocal snatches and relentless drums all combined to make for a dynamic track. Sosak's "Do One" is in a similar vein, with percussive volleys supporting a high-tempo, pulsating groove, while Fear-E's "Rhubarb & Custard" is slightly more measured; featuring driving hi hats and a series of accompanying analogue tones, these elements are supported by industrial kick drums. The release concludes on a different note, with Acidulant dropping the acid-soaked, moody electro of "Drankx".
