Review: It seems as if 15 years have just flown by since Berlin institution Watergate first opened their doors at the base of the famous Oberbaumbrucke, overlooking the River Spree and where long queues run down the street every weekend to get into one of the best clubs in the world. To celebrate their journey over the last decade and a half, they have put together a special anniversary release of 25 new, exclusive and formerly unreleased tracks. Residents of the superclub all appear, such as Hamburg native Matthias Meyer who teams up with Ryan Davis on the evocative "Hope", famed local duo Tiefschwarz deliver the slow burning and moody tech house of "Control", Sweden's La Fleur (of Power Plant fame) delivers the acidic bump and shuffle of "Femton" and former Stattbad resident and Beste Modus boss Cinthie gets deep on the classic house sound of "Hatschi Hatschi" which has a whole heap of swing to it!

Review: Berlin institution Watergate Records celebrates its 10 year birthday, with this special 50 track anthology of their favourite records. Over the last decade, the imprint has set a standard for captivating electronic music from across the house and techno spectrum, successfully mirroring the club's booking policy. Now up to over 60 releases including a remix of the Josh Wink classic "Higher State Of Consciousness" by residents Adana Twins, and the 26th installment in their acclaimed mix series by Danish legends Whomadewho - this compilation presents some of its most memorable cuts since its inception in 2008. Highlights come from: label staple Mathias Meyer - the Hanseatic hero presenting several tracks including "Love Letters From Sicily" with Ryan Davis, local legends Tiefschwarz on "Fire It Out" feat. Ruede Hagelstein, resident La Fleur getting remixed by Detroit legend Kenny Larkin on "Nightflow" and rising duo Adriatique's 7am remix of "The Spirit" by the ever impressive Butch (featuring Hohberg) amony many others.

Review: For the sophomore installment of their various artists series, Watergate Affairs, the Berlin clubbing institution brings you three heroes of the capital's scene. Legend Ruede Hagelstein presents the deep and emotive "Flash Ball" that meets at the intersection between tech house and nu disco with its powerful chords hypnotizing you into submission. Next up Hamburg duo Adana Twins serve up the slinky and bumping dancefloor atmosphere of "Eta"; a suspense filled dark journey track and another local stalwart in the form of Marco Resmann provides the tough main room ecstasy of "Modius". Souvenir Records head honchos Tiefschwarz also step in to give you thre rather Innervisions sounding "Backyard" which ia a druggy moody late night cut that's geared for some proper strobe-lit epiphanies on the club's famous dancefloor next Sunday morning.

Review: The enigmatic Hyenah is a renowned tastemaker, who is passionate about sounds from across the house spectrum. For his edition of the Watergate mix series, the RISE resident selects an inspiring range of artists, while highlighting emerging African and Afro-German talent such as: Berlin-based JAMIIE teaming up with the Stil Vor Talent affiliated Niko Schwind on "Suwedi", talented singer Nanghiti Aviankoi's amazing vocal range is accompanied perfectly by Emanuel Satie's production on "Forever More" and veteran of the Johannesburg house music scene Da Capo appears with the powerful dancefloor drama of "Dark Knight".

Review: Berlin clubbing institution Watergate proudly present the 25th edition of their Watergate compilation series, mixed and compiled by Hanseatic tech house heroes Adana Twins. It is the first Watergate mix that consists of 100% new and unreleased tracks from the likes of Lehar, Acid Pauli and Musumeci and two new works from the pair. They are releasing the exclusive material on separate EPs after the mix, with Part 2 here featuring such highlights as Adana Twins themselves on the moody dancefloor drama of "Ocelotes", Andre Hommen delving into hypnotic and evocative territory on "Nowadays", and Daniel Bortz/Sascha Sibler delivering some seriously sensual and slinky tech house on "Yuppie".

Review: This year saw Berlin clubbing institution Watergate turn 20 years old. To celebrate the milestone, they took the experience outside the club for a full weekend rave, plus the release of this mammoth 20 track compilation of new and unreleased tracks. Highlights come from legendary artists such as the ever reliable Henrik Schwarz who appears with the highly engineered soul of "You Need Attitude", veteran of the scene Sasha gets a seriously heads-down groove happening on "Wolf Cider", Hamburg maximal heroes Extrawelt deliver as expected on the hypnotising "Rover" and former Mobilee co-head Anja Schneider gets the hands in the air on the uplifting house of "Can't You See Me No More?' plus many others.

Review: Joris Biesmans recent debut album, Trains, Planes & Automobiles, offered a scintillating, synth-heavy fusion of electro, Italo-diso and classic-sounding house. There's a similar feel to this fine collection of remixes. Adana Twins lead the way with a refreshingly squelchy, club-ready old school electro re-fix of 'Save The Night', before Alex Medina turns 'Cold Void' into a bubbly trip through analogue-rich cold-wave territory with added melodic clout. Geordie hero Man Power's revision of 'Cosmic Cruise' is a delightful fusion of cascading synthesizer sounds, dreamy chords and locked-in acid house grooves, while Biesmans' own rework of 'Hawkins' is a spiralling, uplifting electro roller with spacey sounds and filthy bass aplenty.

Review: Since their label debut in 2017 with "Flower of Cane", Hamburg heroes Adana Twins have become staples of the Watergate institution. From being handed over the reins on the 25th edition in their esteemed mix series to playing regularly at the club, the duo deliver the goods once again on their new offering. The Curve EP features the brooding dark disco epic that is the title track, the rather dystopian "Cyrus" with its bass heavy electro beats, and the neon-lit aesthetic of closing cut "Nimbus" calling to mind the heady days of early noughties electroclash.

Review: TAU label heads Adana Twins have been soaking up the success of their single 'My Computer", remixing legend Josh Wink and a collaboration with Danish pop outfit WhoMadeWho alongside Greek producer Echonomist - who just presented his 'Modern Wonder' EP on for the label. It's been a hugely successful year for these two acts and they collaborate once more on the 'Subway Yard' EP, featuring four sublime cuts: from the moody and dystopian electro-bass excursion of the title track, the euphoric neon-lit nu-disco action of "Into The Night" right through to the tunnelling and hypnotic dancefloor drama of "Universal Dolls".

Review: TAU bosses Adana Twins have always used the label's annual Spektrum compilations to showcase the quality and variety of the imprint's output, with tracks coming from both established artists and new signings. They've stuck to the same principles on volume four in the series, resulting in another strong collection of guaranteed dancefloor hits and pleasant surprises. Highlights come thick and fast throughout, from the psychedelic, post-tech-house trip of AIKON's 'Magenta', the deep space electro shuffle of 'Forever Mornings' by Echnonomist, and the bouncy, acid house-goes-boompty sweatiness of SXF's 'Workshop 5', to the throbbing Itali-disco revivalism of GUMM's 'Heroes Call', the sleazy TB-303 insanity of Adana Twins' 'Feel The Acid', and the fuzzy, hypnotic Berlin house haziness of 'The Covenant' by Volar.

Review: The Adana Twins deliver the third edition of their annual compilation series, and Spektrum 3 is the best volume yet. It features swirling, vivid electronic jams from Echonomist and Hadiid - the frosty synths on the latter's "Neuro" is especially memorable - alongside the raw percussion and melodic hooks of Aaaron's "Smile". The pace picks up on Cabaret Nocturne's "Afterlife", with Eleonora's breathy vocals set to a pulsating groove, while DC Salas' "Solar Walk" is a chugging piece of Bordello A Parigi-style Italo. However the centre piece in the compilation is the purring bass and the tight drums of the Adana Twins' own "Nordlys", a killer modern electronic disco workout.

Review: Based in Hamburg, TAU is a label started in 2018 by Benjamin Busse and Friso Traas aka Adana Twins, that has released tracks by scene heroes such as Glowal, Echonomist, The Cheapers and many more. The label presents their second instalment in the 'Spektrum' various artists sampler, which features top shelf material by the likes of: Southern Italian duo Underspreche who deliver the entrancing pizzicato inflected vibes of "My Beloved", German veteran Ruede Hagelstein delivering impeccable dancefloor drama as always on "Aschera", ascendant Berliners Local Suicide teaming up with Duro main man Theus Mago on the dark disco odyssey "Technican" and Watergate's sound engineer in residence Biesmans, who provides yet more successful efforts in his newfound love of music production on the neon-lit Italo acid energy of "Wild Wild World".

Review: Facilitated by the label arm of Berlin club Watergate, this release sees two of Europe's most talented production acts lock horns. First up, Hamburg duo Adana Twins remix Baumel's "Roar", which originally appeared ten years ago on Get Physical. At the time of its original release, the track received a lot of attention due to the absence of a kick drum and the way that its looped metallic sound gradually intensified. In the Twins' hands, this experimental piece of music is turned into a moody, pulsating affair with echoes of ebm. A similarly menacing aesthetic is audible on the Adana Twins's original track, "Aufstand Der Massen". Its linear, heads-down rhythm is augmented by a siren wailing in the background, lending an epic edge to the arrangement.

Review: Following on from last year's Flower of Cane EP, Hamburg house duo Adana Twins return to Watergate. The title track is subtle but effective and austere-sounding but also uplifting. It chugs along to a solid groove and features eerie synths that build and build thanks to some effective filtering - and is exactly the type of track one would expect to hear at the feted Berlin club. On the flip side, "Sequence 01" is centred on a different approach. While its groove is also linear, it is powered by a pulsation bass and the kind of evocative, crystalline hooks that sound like the modern embodiment of classic German trance.

Review: For their next release, Berlin institution Watergate welcomes back two of Hamburg's finest: Adana Twins. Last seen on the label's last compilation, the duo returns with a bunch of stunners which the label itself best describe as 'low slung, infectious cuts blurring the lines between house and techno' and truly showcase the signature sounds of these two Harbour City heroes. The original version of "Flower Of Cane" sees the duo follow their darkest route into the abyss yet on this druggy and heaving main room groove that follows in the tradition of classic Reude Hagelstein or even local legends like Stephan Bodzin. "Ortus" is an adrenalised exercise in mood lighting which is perfect to make a transition with its elevating EBM style bassline. The third offering "Relentless" (feat Jeppe Kjellberg of Danish electro-poppers Whomadewho) offers yet more quality, but if you ask us: it's all about Andre Lodemann's vocal mix, which is so incredibly dreamy and evocative as always.

Review: This Falling EP, a collaboration between Adana Twins and Upercent on TAU, epitomises the seamless synergy between these seasoned artists, delivering a strong statement within the melodic techno domain. Featuring tracks "Falling" and "Move," the EP blends emotive vocals, pulsating basslines, and a refined mix of electronic elements that err toward the TAU sound. Adana Twins' dynamic range and Upercent's avant-garde soundscapes converge here at large, showcasing a deep emotional resonance and meticulous attention to sonic detail in the project. "Falling," the titular track, sets the tone with its undulating bassline and poignant male vocals, while "Move" offers a more urgent tempo and powerful kick drums, crafting a dance floor-ready anthem of romantic yearning.

Review: With DJ names like Take It Easy and Friso, it's probably to be presumed that German duo Adana Twins don't take themselves too seriously. That tongue in cheek attitude can be heard on "Everyday", a delightfully loose and languid cut that sounds like a funkier, groovier and, well, slightly less overbearing take on the work of Benoit & Sergio. Despite being propelled forward by a superb synth bassline, it lazily slips from the speakers rather than jumping towards you like a ninja on speed. "Strange" continues in a similar vein, offering a laidback, Soul Clap style cover of The Doors' "People Are Strange". With nice pianos. However odd that may seem on paper, it's actually superb.

Review: Cocoon's Dots & Pearls series has been successful in putting new artists side by side with more established acts - and volume six is no exception. With a focus on the deeper side of house and techno, this instalment features "Origo", a rumbling electronic groove from emerging Diynamic / Watergate act Adana Twins and Frankfurt producer Fabe with a melodic tech-house cut, "Call Of Origin". Representing the more established acts is Eduardo de la Calle, who drops a trippy, dubbed out minimal house track, "I'm Losing My Mind", featuring Romina Cohn on vocals and Michael Klein's rave-heavy "Continuation". However, it's one of the new kids who steals the show, with Radu Dracul delivering the deep, bleep-laden techno of "Spectrae".

Review: Amsterdam Dance Event is finally happening again this year, and local label Armada Music (run by legend Armin van Buuren and David Lewis) is hosting lots of amazing events to make sure it will be memorable for all. Here's some of the anthems that are very likely to drop at ADE 2022, such as hometown heroes Glowal on the energising dancefloor drama of "Love Above" (extended mix), the mighty Adana Twins deliver yet another slinky and hypnotic journey on "How Far Can We Go", while hypnotic techno expert Sebastian Mullaert goes ultra-deep on the contemplative and understated "Whispering Of Knives" and veteran Robert Babicz goes out all guns blazing on the main room techno of "Earth Ship" among many more.

Review: Ten years of tech house powerhouse Exploited's exploits - pardon the pun! A born and bred Berliner, Shir Khan started the label in his home city in 2007. The imprint now plays host to a who's who in the current tech-house climate - including Adana Twins, Doctor Dru, Claptone, Joyce Muniz, Urulu and Cocolores to name a few. Its artists have been receiving full support from tastemakers such as Pete Tong, Soul Clap, Wolf & Lamb and Kraak & Smaak. All the usual suspects appear here: many golden oldies and even some newbie surprises too - perfect for the Christmas season and to forecast trends moving forward into 2018. To prove their relevance, they've served up a whopper of a compilation: over five dozen tracks showcasing their illustrious discography. We are certain that these are timeless grooves and will prove to be just as relevant another decade.

Some of these go as far back as 2009! Take for instance Malente & Dex feat. Analogik's "Gipsy Kings" which homed in that whole loopy latin house trend - popularised by similar tunes like "We No Speak Americano". Swedish electro house dons Zoo Brazil appear as well, with their 2012 dancefloor hit "Rock The House", then get deep and slinky with Moodymanc's 2013 sleeper hit "Joy" (Ralph Lawson Dub). They were even doing jazzy/dusty deep house as far back as 2011, like on Homework's "Whipped Cream". Remember Serge Santiago's remix of Murphy Jax's "Let's Get To It" featuring the inimitable Mike Dunn? It's here!

But when best describing the label's success thus far, we'd have to give honorable mentions to the true staples of the label. The legendary Chicagoan James Curd (formerly one half of the Greenskeepers) has kept on going from his new home of Adelaide, Australia and served up some of his best work in years. The emotive and bittersweet "Forever My Friend" is just one example. Likewise, Belgium's Compuphonic appears several times also - his recent hit from earlier this year "Metropolis" appears in all its soulful and evocative glory. Here's to another 10 guys, cheers!
