Review: As a reward for contributing some killer re-edits to multi-artist EPs, Whiskey Disco has given Alex Zuiev the chance to strut his stuff over the course of a four-track EP. First up is "Trenitalia", a rubbery and rolling affair in which spacey synth stabs, disco-funk horns and what sound like Spanish spoken word snippets leap above a bustling, bass-heavy rhythm track. "Flying Objects" sees the Ukranian producer breathe new life into a flute-sporting disco-boogie roller whose strong bassline and handclap-heavy rhythm track will keep things moving on the dancefloor, while "Soul Fire" is a low-slung chunk of sleazy disco-house hypnotism for dancers who like their jams sleazy, psychedelic and notably weighty.

Review: More multi-artist action from the effervescent Editorial label, a stable that has consistently delivered some of the strongest re-edits, remixes and reworks of the last few years. The imprint's most storied outfit, Ed Wizard and Disco Double Dee, kick things off with the lolloping, piano-heavy disco positivity of "Spirit Power" - where sampled female speech provides an interesting focal point - while slow disco stalwart Duff Disco delivers the head-nodding, toe-tapping warm-up warmth of "Burning Hot". Elsewhere, Hotmood ups the heat and tempo on the P-funk-fired stomp of "I Was Born in Mexico" and Alex Zuiev lightly beefs up a swirling peak-time disco jam on EP standout "I Feel Funky".

Review: 13 months after first slipping out on vibrant purple vinyl, Whiskey Disco's compilation style "Sounds of the Inner City" EP finally makes it to digital. And not a moment too soon, either, because Alex Zuiev's throbbing, acid-flecked disco-house revision of "Bus Stop" is an absolute stormer (and, for the record, pre-dates the Chaka Khan's similarly minded, "Bus Stop"-sampling "Like Sugar"). There's plenty to set the pulse racing elsewhere on the EP too, from the slap-bass propelled brilliance of Murge's swirling orchestral disco rework "Sounds of the Inner City", to the low-slung, bass-heavy boogie badness of Frank Angles' "Please U".

Review: Midnight Riot's latest label debut comes from Alex Zuiev, a floor-focused producer and re-editor who has previously released music on FKR, Cherry Cola, Whiskey Disco and Editorial. There's naturally much to enjoy here, from the throbbing, Moroder style arpeggio lines and camp orchestration of title track "Moon Dream", to the sparkling Italo-disco revivalism - think screaming space synths, clipped Chic style guitars, crunchy Clavinet lines and mazy organ solos - of standout "Soul Train". The fun doesn't stop there, though; both the delay-laden, 60s soul-plus-synths vibe of "Don't See" and baggy disco-funk roller "Nobody Can Stop You" are tried and tested treats.

Review: By now, we should all know what to expect from Editorial's multi-artist edit missives, namely refined party-starting fodder that puts the needs of dancefloors first and foremost. That's certainly what Ed Wizard and Disco Double Dee serve up on the bustling, bass-heavy Afro-funk style madness of the first of five "Dope Licks" on the long running label's latest EP. Hotmood's string-powered disco-funk bubbler "Worldwide" also hits the heights thanks to punchy horns and rolling, beefed-up beats, while Levantine's "Right On" is a rolling and relaxed exercise in filter-sporting disco-house grooves. Elsewhere, Melon Bomb's "Sweet Jam" makes merry with rubbery beats, jazzy bass guitar, dubbed-out vocal snippets and clipped funk guitars, while Alex Zuiev's "Get Lifted" offers the perfect balance between Idjuts style dub disco madness and toe-tipping disco-house chunkiness.

The North Carolina based imprint's 57th edition gives us four more surefire disco edits by the likes of Tony Chocoloney from Melbourne, Australia who gives us some funked-up soulpower on "Less Groove", Ukrainian Alex Zuiev gives us a loungey kinda something' on the tres chic "Valentina" and Anthony Mansfield delivers an unrepentant use of sleek filter sweeps throughout the slo-mo antics of "It's Too Late" featuring a bit of help from good buddy DJ M3.

Review: It's fair to say that Whiskey Disco rarely fails to disappoint. Sleazy McQueen's long-serving label is undoubtedly one of the most consistent re-edit imprints around, making each successive release a "must-check". Naturally, there's plenty of club-ready goodness to be found on the label's latest missive, from the vibraphone-sporting, reverb-laden disco bounce of Alkalino's "Body & Soul" edit, to the beefed-up, Afro-disco-with-house-beats heaviness of Alex Juiev's "Afro Magic". In between, Love Drop pitch up and straighten out a Grace Jones favourite, while Terrence Pearce brilliantly plays around with a spacey disco classic on "Ushukela". In other words, it's another tight collection of cut-jobs from Whiskey Disco.
