Review: With releases on Semantica as well as Terrence Fixmer's label, it's fair to say that Russian producer Volkov's star is in the ascent - and Interwave shows why he is getting the acclaim. The EP starts with the house-based "Slow Motion", where raw drums and grainy percussion are fused with acidic squiggles, before heading into a harder direction with "Appearances". There, the beats are harder and heavier and the percussive elements jagged as a deranged sax plays away in the background. The title track pushes the sound into a heavier, grinding space, with a deadpan German vocal only adding to the sense of unease. Finally, "Stigmata" is a grungy groove full of spooky samples.
