Review: Next up on the ever-ready Screwface imprint, a shell shocker of a release comes forward as we see a super exciting link up between Magenta & Alphaze, delivering a pair of fiery remixes to keep the blood pumping warm. First up, the Magenta remix of 'Downtown' sees a fiery display of classic jump-up style synth patterns and choppy drums to back them up, giving us a rave-ready piece of weaponry to kick off. On the flip to this, we then see Alphaze unveil a top quality rethink of 'Something', focussing even more heavily on gritty synthesiser designs and minimal drum skips, with a number of a fueling percussive additions on top for good measure. Spicy stuff!

Review: Fresh from last month's firing EP 'Business & Crime' on Next:Gen the mighty Alphaze skids to a halt at the Serial Killaz HQ with six big wheeling bangers all shredded and treaded for some summertime slammage. Highlights in this festival of bangers include the utterly grotty and bleepy darkness of 'Oh Yeah', the twisted theatre and drama of the Nexus-linked 'Hostile' and the title track 'Pirelli'. Featuring G3 on the mic, there's so much fire in this hole you could cook a BBQ for three years non stop. Beefy!

Review: We now get to jump into a real treat from the Subway Soundz squad, welcoming Alphaze inside for five pieces of new school jump up heat. We begin with 'Effective' alongside Magenta, a crunchy roller, focussing on simple yet catchy basslines and nostalgic vocal cuts, before 'Next One' ups the bass with more subby squelches. From here, D-Flex arrives with a vibrant display on 'Trouble', a monstrous original that is likely to tear the dance to shreds, with Froidy's additional production punches of 'Tipped Off' giving us a secondary gut puncher. Finally, the pressure reaches the maximum bubbling point as the grizzly LFO sweeps of 'Talk Bout' gives us one final dosage of bassy goodness, putting the final touches on this wicked selection.

Review: Following recent bassline brawls on labels such as Scoped, Subway and DNB Allstars, the always consistent Alphaze lays his hat down at OnlyDrums with this hefty spread of dancefloor tackle. As always with Alphaze, there's a sense of mischief between the dark and light as a punished basslines twist up and fold in with funk and a playful groove. The housey vocal on 'Motivation', the brazen trippy naughtiness of 'Weird Sounds' and the melting, groaning bassline on 'Hat Trick' (with Nexus) are just three examples.

Review: Following their launch release this summer, Scoped Sounds return with another many-handed bruiser bonanza. Jay Jay's driving but co-pilots throughout the trip include the likes of Magenta, Pengo and Alphaze as we're flung from bassline pillar to breakbeat post. Highlights include the filtered string sweep on the lead track 'The Thing', the warbling reverse bassline and KO punch energy of 'Everything Cool' and the dramatic stabs and a grizzly bassline twist on 'Questions' but to be real, the whole EP hits hard. A very exciting snapshot of where jump up is at as we skank into 2023.

Review: Alphaze is a 24 year old drum 'n' bass DJ/producer from Southend-On-Sea, who has released on top labels like Subway Soundz, Shadow Demon Records, Eternal Muzic and Bulletproof Records. He returns to Jumped Up here to follow up the impressive Murders EP from a few months ago with "Downtown" which starts off with an addictive soul/jazz sample before throwing down the jump-up style. Equally set on the main room dancefloor is the wonky roller up next by Brad from Nuneaton aka Infrared, titled "Remember That".

Review: More rugged funzies from the Jumped Up crew as Alphaze teams up with Sinu8 and Runnah for four big boy bruisers. 'Murders' goes all cockney gangster over an early 2000s G Dub flavoured riff, 'Hallucinations' is a much freakier sense of fury with its high frequency tremors and groans while 'High Grade' smokes us away with its gurgling, grumpy bassline. Last but definitely not least 'Splinter' frees our mind with more of a grungey, sludgy style bassline that wouldn't go amiss in a Hazard set. Murderation!

Review: There's no doubting the fact that there's been a distinctive stylistic movement within D&B in the past couple of years, a noticeable strand of the scene that's cultivated a particular style of sharp-edged yet rough rollers. Nu Elementz is an obvious example, but Alphaze is landing in a similar vein here with a fiery five-tracker than hits hard- seriously hard. 'Wonderland' exemplifies the bare-bones approach taken here and its works well as its gargantuan main bassline reverberates across the range with the desired effect. 'Smash The Gaff' keeps it low-key on the introduction with funky sampling, before a siren-like back end brings the tune home with wailing force.

Review: G13 are turning ten years old and, like any good anniversary, it's being celebrated with a proper knees-up, hands-in-the-air type compilation of jump-up heavy hitters from a slew of slightly lesser-known artists. This is the second part of that celebration and, following on from an excellent first instalment, the crew are back with even more. Rowney and Filthy Habits make a return, whilst Smoggy and more make a feature as well. Rowney ropes in MC Haribo for a screamer with 'Devastating', Lyfie takes things heavy on 'Mentality' and Slipz drags proceedings into a bouncier place with 'Drop Tight'. All round, an excellent showing from the G13 crew.

Review: Alphaze is bringing you some essentials. Kingskins, a CDJ, a bottle of Vodka and some headphones are the essentials on the album art, but he's got some more sonically-orientated essentials in mind, namely a four-tracks of jump-up infused mayhem. From start to finish, this release just absolutely slaps and not in the bad way. 'Essentials' featuring Villain is the title tune and it's a banger, with huge synth shoves and rough bass stabs key ingredients in Alphaze's concoction of force. 'Dangerous World' includes fellow jump-up merchant Magenta and its suitably aggressive, with more roughness than you can shake a stick at. Yet another sick release from the Latch crew.
