Review: Me Me Me welcomes back Italian producer Amarcord (best known for outings on N.O.I.A Recordings, Eskimo Recordings and Ritmo Fatale), and this time he's got Aussie new-waver Altutt in tow. In its original form, 'A New Light' sounds like an extra-atmospheric tribute to Vince Clarke-era Depeche Mode - all off-kilter beats, eyes-closed male vocals and dusty, immersive synth sounds. It's arguably even better in its 'Extended Dance Mix' and 'Instrumental Extended Dance Mix' forms, where Amarcord channels the spirit of those killer 12" remixes that usually accompanied new wave synth-pop singles of the early-to-mid '80s. The Depeche Mode tribute vibe continues via good-quality bonus cuts, 'A New Arcadia' and 'The Believer'.

Review: The latest release on Alex Niggeman's label comes from Italian pair Speaking Minds and Amarcord, a new producer. By navigating a path that runs between techno, minimal and the more atmospheric end of trance, the collaborators deliver the pumping but still esoteric "Odissea". On "Hit Me", there is a somewhat darker tone. The tribal drums and percussion seethe with an understated menace, an ominous bass soars up through the arrangement and even the trance hooks inhabit a darker dimension. Bawrut, who has released on Ransom Note and Hard Fist, is tasked with reworking "Hit Me". In his hands, it turns into a stripped back percussive affair, with the bass oozing its way through a wiry rhythm.
