Machine Remix EP
Review: Fresh from getting moody on Crucast and being out and about on DnB Allstars, Ampy's 'Machine' gets re-fired up in all kinds of cool ways by an all star cast. Originally released in May 2023, now it's in the hands of filth wizards such as Master Error, Gino, T95, Nick The Lot, Majistrate and Sub Killaz. Highlights include the cool switches and endless of energy of Gino's take on 'Rendevous' and the extreme grot and intensity of Nick The Lot's twist on 'You Better Move' but on the real this whole EP is utter chaos. Fire up the machine!

Something Special (Taxman Remix) / (T>I Remix)
Review: The Organized Grime crew have once again pulled it out the bag with this latest drop, as they continue to march forward with a seriously spicy combination, taking AMPLIFY's dangerous 'Something Special' original and hand it over for a pair of high octane reworks. First up, we see the legendary Taxman arrive, unveiling lethal synthesiser prowls and a constantly alternating back drop of subs & drums, giving us a seriously hard hitting overhaul. On the flip, T>I continues the high pressure feel with his more neurotic overhaul, focussing on more subtle synth beeps and hard hitting sub-sweeps, giving us a nicely balanced A & B side.

All Sorts EP
Review: Good grief, good golly, good heavens... Nick The Lot and his Pick The Lot gang are back with more slick tricks than a 60s Cockney thug and the only criminal act would be to not pay attention. First 'Goodie Goodie VIP' gets real with bulging basses and a dark sense of funk while Stillz, Pengo and Spooka all get involved on the super-springy 'Battlefield'. Elsewhere Amplify and Master Error get busy on the warping, weirdo, super-squelch bubbler 'Crystal' before Nick shuts down the operation with the deeper, heads-down grizzler 'Anything You Say'. Goodbye.

Sub Killaz & Friends II
Review: It's collab season once again at Sub Killaz HQ as the San Diego jump-up badman links up with a whole host of pals for this new volume of the 'Sub Killaz & Friends' series. Highlights include the Rage-inducing 'Bombs' (with Smuggler), the bendy bassline licks of the Amplify-linked 'Step Up', the wide-armed swagger and laser slaps of 'Trap Game' (with Moriaty Mob) and the vicious snake-like twister 'The System' with Profile. Dope.

Tunes From The Tombs Volume 2
Various
Review: Now here's something big enough to raise both dead and alive ravers: Zombie have gone back through their dusty vaults and unearthed 40 absolute crackers for our enjoyment. Flexing the full release history of the label, over the collection we're reminded of just how many bangers the label has been responsible for... And how many new-gen artists the label has supported over the years. From Jenks to Jfal to Jaxx, Amplify to Zeba, Damage Report to Damageman, 'Tunes From The Tombs Vol 2' is loaded with nothing but uncompromising underground weapons from some of the best in the game. A great chance to get up to speed or fill some holes in your Zombie collection, it's never been a better time to go tomb raiding!

Pot Smoker EP
Review: Set the clocks for 4.20 and spark up the dance! Sub Killaz cut through the smoke with five sticky-icky tear-ups. Featuring link-ups with Amplify, Boybellers and Jayzo G, the whole collection hits the senses hard. Highlights include the Playaz style roughhouse jam 'My Hood', the high octane bumps and flexes of 'Your Time Is Up' (with Amplify) and the sweet sensei skanks of the title track. High time you checked this out!

Amplify & Friends
Review: The unstoppable Amplify continues to get his mates involved with a brand new Amplify & Friends EP. The last one was on Low Down Deep, now time for a new tag-team tear-up on the world dominating Crucast. First up, 'See Me' with Nu Elementz sets the scene with its nagging sandpaper funk bass riff before good friend and Gradient co-runner Metal Work joins for the super brutal rough-house jam 'Gradient'. Elsewhere Master Error and Nu Elements get stuck in on the more dramatic grot-fast 'Gone' before we hit an emotional rave finale 'Knuckles' with Master Error. Get friendly!

Slow Jam/Guns Of Navarone
Review: Nick The Lot and Amplify with MC Spyda and Blacks on mic duties... It's safe to say that Basslayerz are going in HARD on this talent-packed collection. Two cuts, two versions, four reasons to turns your bass face inside out, both 'Slow Jam' and 'Guns Of Navarone' are primed for peaktime damage. 'Slow Jam' is all about that gurgling, stretched out bass and twisted sense of tension while 'Guns Of Navarone' hits with such gung-ho vibe you'll be singing along with Spyda before you even know the words!

Machine EP
Review: Holy moly, Amplify isn't messing around here. Hell, he never was but 'Machine' is by far his most accomplished and sickest body of work so far. Nearing album level in its consistency, weight and concept, each cut adds another layer of intensity with dark matter funk and big juicy riff energy. Highlights include the absolute fatness and stern-but-playful vibes of 'Warmed Up', the gurning gully croaks and groans of 'Skrewface' and Fatman D's slaying on 'You Better Move'. Start the engine.

Bad Girl EP
Review: Magenta on Gradient... Do we need to say any more? Okay, Magenta on Gradient with an AMPLIFY collab. If we need to say more than that then you're clearly not up to speed on how big this EP is. Six tracks in total, this is the Czech artist's most accomplished collection of tracks so far as he flexes and fires from vibe to vibe. The addictive riffy hook of 'Bad Girl' sets the tone and pace before each proceeding cut knocks us off our feet. Highlights include the savage brutalist funk of 'Two Grams', the hectic dancefloor tension of 'Chance' and the finale cut (with Junger) - 'Position'. Full strength!

How I Do It EP
Review: As if Gradient couldn't flex any more clout, along comes a new label to their operations... Escalation Sound. A new place for the new-gen, and there's no one better to kick it off than Yung Jenks. Developing a superb signature more and more with every dispatch, Jenks goes in on 'How I Do It' with raw energy and a diverse dancefloor sound. With the likes of Amplify and Stance joining the fray, the vibe is widescreen and versatile. Highlights include the rasping, rising bass snake on 'Wagwarn' and the pure euphoria and rush of heavy energy on 'This Tune'. Wanna know how Jenks does it? Pay close attention...

Brixton / Good Time
Review: Amplify and Kendrick together on Maji's Sweet Tooth? Now this is something worth writing home about... 'Brixton' takes the lead with a powerful blast of horns and bass textures firing in all kinds of directions. Perfect for chopping up in the mix by surprise, this is crafted with pure drama. It's backed by the equally powerful 'Good Time'. Once again laced with all kinds of glitches and twists, it lives up to its name in every way. More of this type of vibe please.

High R8 Remixes
Review: Hey m8 come and ingrati8 yourself with these power pl8s. R8 have kindly gener8ted a series of brand new remixes and we'd be wise to decor8 our collections with them. Filthy Habits set a stern mand8 with their heavyweight remix of Metal Work's 'Thinking' before Nu Elementz go on to remonstr8 their levels with the swaggering take on 'Bloodshed'. Deeper again Metal Work continues to gravit8 towards the grottiest end of the spectrum with the obliter8ing take on Amplify's 'Complete' before Master Error steps up to demonstr8 his skills on 'No More Games'. Consumm8 badboys.

Badness EP
Review: Don't let your madness bring you sadness... Give Amplify a shout and embrace the 'Badness'! Following his recent remix of Original Sin comes this absolutely mammoth EP on Gradient, here are six more slayers for your sets this summer and beyond. Every single tune is a highlight but key moments include the drama and pure rudeness of 'Mad Ting', the epic b2b2b energy and sheet metal savagery of 'Hardway' with Profile and Master Error and the far-out wonkiness and originality of 'Frontline'. But to be real, that's just half of the dynamite on display here. Explosive stuff.

Murky Digital Selections Vol 2
Various
Review: Portsmouth-based label Murky Digital returns with another collection of moody, dark, rolling and steppy drum & bass and jungle, curated by label chief founder Elsta. Highlights include: DJ Direkt's subterranean roller "Claret", Yatuza getting mental on the neurofunk trip of "Seeing Things", the ever reliable Conrad Subs steppin' out into the darkside on "Sketchy", while more expansive UK flava comes in the form of Guzi & Agro's grime crossover "The Dirty South" (Guzi remix) and with names like Malicious & Bass Antics you'd surely be in good hands right? Their offering "Talk & Chat" ticks all the boxes.

Audio Addict 100 - LP Sampler 2
Played by: Redline, DJ Hybrid
Review: The Audio Addict 100 Vol. 2 Sampler features some heavyweight remixes. The first is from 24 year old up-and-comer from Devon Nury Blackburn, aka Amplify, whose noisy neurofunk rendition of Nectax's "Midnight" is sure to blow the doors off, while the dream team of label chief DJ Hybrid and Edinburgh's Mrs Magoo collaborate on a rework of Oram & Toby Ross's "Baddest Sound" - a mad junglist roller in proper back to '95 flava that will surely appeal to the nostalgists.

Played by: Amplify
Review: Holy mother of sugar-coated shoplifting, TJ has put together Pick N Mix's biggest ever VA right here! The second edition of his label's All Stars series, here we're treated to 30 reminders why drum & bass is in the safest of hands with the new generation. Highlights are all over the shop and spilling from the shelves... Formula's Serum style less-is-more revs on 'Dragster's Den', Hexa's redeye romp 'White Widow', the sexy snap and swing of Lovell's 'Deja Vu', Yoteii's quirky funk and church-sized harmonics on 'Gameboy', MLH's surreal echoes and torn up harmonics on 'Technique'. The list goes on...

Greeze EP
Review: Devon don Amplify continues his epic vein of form this year with another major league EP, this time on his own Gradient imprint. Following his recent 'Amplify & Friends' EP, it's loaded with a whole gaggle of collabos including Master Error, D-Fuser and Clarkey as he works us through our paces with his grotty, riffy bass hooks and wry sense of funk. Greeze by name, greasy by nature; 'Problems' oozes oily soul with its preacher sample and melting horn bass tones, 'Deadman' writhes in the warped bassline mud while 'Soundboy' (with mic-man Stytchd) is pure sleaze and swagger. These are just some of the highlights. Grease up and get some.

Enemy Of The State
Review: Established in 2011, High R8 Digital is a Milton Keynes based drum and bass label, aiming to bring you quality tracks from producers around the world. Their next release is the debut of Amplify, with a massive six track EP titled Enemy Of The State featuring collaborations with some esteemed label staples. The title track is the gnarliest, sci-fi inspired techstep we have heard this side of Ed Rush & Optical, while the dark and stripped back stepper "Boss" is another original track, and "Optimal" sees him team up with Master Error. On the particularly impressive roller "Depth" he buddies up with Clarkey.

Back Of A Lorry Vol 1
Various
Review: Pick The Lock Records is a drum 'n' bass record label owned by Nick The Lot, located in the UK. He presents the label's first various artists compilation here titled 'Back Of A Lorry Vol. 1' featuring six rising young producers within scene, such as Devonshire luminary Amplify with the classic techstep vibe of "Sleep", Cardiff-based DisKrete delivers a minimal stepper in the vein of DJ Krust on "Time's Up", while Germany's Cramz nails that classic Ram Recordings sound on the tough roller "Revolver" and Manchester's Kormz (WA3 Collective) hammers the message home in style with the sci-fi beats of "Mind Trap".

Wonder
Review: Cave has rapidly become a must-follow imprint ever since its launch, and Maurizzle has taken to it like a duck to water. This single is his first release on the label and The Wonder maintains the high standard we've come to expect from the producer. It's rough and tumble rolling goodness, and 'Wonder' represents this mission statement with devastating clarity, as resonant synths give way to penetrating percussion and a growling, tendril-like bassline. 'Obsession' has a wicked new-school vibe to the drum line but it's bassline is as futuristic as they come; vicious bulges pushing left and right with a visceral sense of movement. Potent, potent stuff.
