Review: A journey through waveforms, transmission and light with label boss Andre Kronert on Odd Even Volume One, where he carefully curates an intoxicating mix comprised of some of the label's finest moments. Highlights not limited to: boss man Kronert on the dirty acid jack of "Ain't No Funny Dirty Old Man Music (Jeroen Search Remix) and the tunnelling techno of "Isolation", German veteran Johannes Heil who is fine form as always on the trance-indicing "Gospel Seven" and the barrelling peak time thriller "By Night Part Three" through to label staple Markus Suckut who delivers his typically contorted style of techno on "Your Legs", plus ever impressive Italian duo Boston 168 doing their usual mentalist thing on the acidic "Oblivion" and "Nightcall" respectively.

Review: The sixth instalment of this series brings together established names with upcoming producers in the deep house / techno scene. Representing the established artists is Dave DK, who has been releasing music for almost two decades: unsurprisingly, his contribution, "Immer Gut" is a wonderfully delicate affair, revolving around introspective piano lines, soft-focused filters and fragile percussion. He's joined by Luke Hess, a regular on Omar S' label and whose pumping "Platte" explores the moody end of dub techno, thanks to its dramatic chord sweeps. However, the compilation is also successful in highlighting the fact that there is a lot of new talent out there, with Anton Djaneiro's wonderfully evocative "Heimweh" and Sevvero's techy "Artemis" both standing out.

Ain't No Funny Music (Jesse Jakob remix) - (6:08) 125 BPM
Ain't No Funny Music (Nima Khak remix) - (7:00) 130 BPM
Review: Despite managing a number of other labels, Andre Kronert has found the time to also focus on Odd Even - and the latest release is one of its best yet. The German DJ /producer has commissioned an impressive group of remixers to rework him; Jeroen Search steps up first with an acid-soaked take on "Ain't No Funny Dirty Old Man Music", while Steve O'Sullivan works under his Bluetrain guise to deliver a stepping, dubby take on "Ain't No Funny Music". Ever the astute A&R, Kronert has also tapped Swedish producer Nima Khak for a stripped back, hiccuping vocal Robotman-style version of "Ain't No Funny Music" while Jesse Jakob's dense, booming version of the same track is redolent of classic Aubrey.

Review: Listen to some tracks from Exu with the blinds down and you'd be forgiven for forgetting that we're in the middle of the summer. "The Random Eye (Introspective)" starts this mini-album with hypnotic drones; "Off (Futurespective)" is full of creepy textures and "1,000 Exuspective" sees Kronert makes the kind of dark ambient Haxan Cloak is lauded for. Kronert also knows his way around a dance floor groove and "Into the Zone" is a killer DBX-style minimal house track, while "Code 2" sees him opt for a more up to date sound, its stepping rhythm haunted by the dark textures that lurk in the shadows throughout Exu.

Peder Mannerfelt - "A Narrow Dome" - (4:29) 159 BPM
Jesse Jakob - "Jaak" - (5:52) 128 BPM Hot
Andre Kronert - "C.O.D.E.1" - (6:43) 125 BPM
Simon Haydo - "Procession" - (5:19) 128 BPM
Review: This split release features producers breathing new life into well-known forms. Jesse Jakob relives the spirit of Chicago house with slamming drums accompanying the trademark acid pirouettes. Andre Kronert's "C.O.D.E. 1" follows a different path as the scuffled dub of Basic Channel is re-lived against a backdrop of distorted drums and tonal squelches, while Simon Haydo's "Procession" is like a more refined version of 90s Drumcode-style techno, its dark thundering beats fused with a growling bass for maximum effect. The one variable on this release is Peder Mannerfelt. The Swedish producer's "A Narrow Dome" avoids the dance floor, its foreboding soundscapes interspersed with the sound of plastic chairs being hurled off a tin roof.
