Review: Having contributed a track to the split EP that announced Voyage Recordings, founder Andy Hart has since largely focussed on building the label through some canny A&Ring that's seen singles from the likes of Harvey Sutherland, M5K and Urulu. There was the introduction of Hart's Auslander project with Tom Lalley and Fantastic Man in the label's 2015 output too, but the recently-settled Berlin resident hasn't offered up any solo output in some time! Which makes the clutch of brushed deep house burners that feature on this Mistress of your Mind EP most welcome indeed Andy. There are hints that Hart's new surrounds and regular gigs in Berlin are starting to bleed through into his productions - see the heat-treated "Sorayama's Mistress" and full throttle percussive onslaught of "Vienen." It's a development we wholeheartedly approve of!

Review: Hailing from Melbourne, Australia, Voyage Recordings are a new label with a thing for the deeper side of life. That's all good with us, especially when it's as slickly produced as the four tracks found here. With all their key artists making appearance, we get gently washed out to sea on tranquil waves of slo-mo dance starting with CTEPEO 57's jazzy, stoned-house, the velvety smoocher "Rosebud", the lean and serene bliss-house of "Dreams on Kepler" and moody electro-house closer "Gravy". Slick!

Review: Victoria's finest come together to launch the Melbourne Deepcast imprint, proving that there's much more to the city than great coffee. Up first is Lewie Day - perhaps better known to the record buying public as Tornado Wallace - who drops the immensely pleasing soulful mid tempo bump of "Some Kind Of Man", a sample-heavy house jam that has been receiving a lot of love on the Juno office turntable. This is followed by "Devoted", an effort from MD head honcho Andy Hart that shimmers with Motor City soul - watch out for those keys! Up next there's some eagerly anticipated new tackle from Fantastic Man, with the deep groove/low slung riffage of "From Start To Finish" sounding like a snug fit for the 6th Borough Project back cat, while Weekend Express's "Deeper" bristles with vintage Chicago vibes. An auspicious debut.

Review: If it's sophisticated deep house you're after, Detroit Swindle's Heist Recordings usually delivers the goods. This latest missive is no exception. It comes from Australian producer Andy Hart, who has recently collaborated with Francis Inferno Orchestra and Max Graef, dropping 12"s on Melbourne Deepcast and Sleazy Beats Black Ops. Hart's style is deep, tactile and quietly soulful, with toasty pads and hazy melodies riding chunky grooves and warm basslines. The four tracks here stick to this formula, mixing up the styles and influences a little for good measure. So, there's a touch of sleaziness about the old school bump of "Hermano" and the bluesy "Epsilon Girls" (our pick), while the darting "The Same For Me" is an altogether smoother proposition.

Review: This is only Pusic's second release, but already ears are raised to the name thanks to these high quality compilation EPs. Andy Hart & Max Graef are first up with the luxuriously deep, shuffle-house of "Gefleckte Gauklerblume". "You Made a Change Of Heart" sees a euphoric gospel sample teased to within an inch of its life, only to be then spun into tech-house gold by Roman Rauch.

Review: There's plenty of breezy summer warmth on this split four-tracker from the ever-reliable Melbourne Deepcast camp. Andy Hart joins forces with Max Graef on opener "Super Strain", the aural equivalent of a stroll down the banks of the Yarra River at dusk, all squinting horns, shuffling grooves and woozy party atmos. Graef's "Sensation" continues on a similar theme, thickening the percussion and adding some tipsy, bluesy chords for added humid, late night effect. M5K opts to drop the tempo and prioritize vintage, new age synths on the intoxicating "Moon Vexed", while The Tortoise brilliantly blends deep house, nu-disco and soft-focus soul on "The Real Thing".

Review: Freerange Records kick off the first part of their Double Century vinyl edition with four finely honed cuts of prime contemporary deep house that reflect the ever evolving tastes of the label. Boss man Jimpster takes the lead spot with the cyclical and spiritual "Head Spin" while by way of contrast Matt Masters and Pippo Ceretti bring a much more minimal approach to their tribal-flavoured "Xenophilia". Andy Hart has a more classic, smooth deep house approach on "MYLNY" which comes on rousing and romantic with its heartfelt string lines, and then Shur-I-Khan throws down a moody beat track to get you loose and limbered up.

Review: This deluxe expansive EP - originally released on a 12" and 10" package - is the first in what Detroit Swindle promise will be an annual occurrence - a "family remix EP", where members of the Heist Recordings crew rework releases from the previous 12 months. It's a neat idea, and one resulting in some killer material. The Organ Grinder's surging, drum-laden rework of Frits Wentik's "Schrewd" is deliciously heavy, though it's Max Graef's loose, soulful reinterpretation of Detroit Swindle's "The Break Up" that's probably the standout. That said, there's plenty to cheer elsewhere, not least Nachtbraker's cowbell-laden, acid house-meets-nu-disco version of Max Graef and Andy Hart's "Jungle".
