Review: For the second edition of their 'The 45's' VA series, PointBlank has assembled a fabulous five track selection, exploring the more experimental edge of electronic dance music. We kick off with the colourful synthetic flutters and bubbling drum textures of 'Dizzy' from Anna Kiss, which really does the job of kicking us off in style. From here, we take in Cathy Hobi's 'Dubstrumental' mix of 'A Terminators Dream', which explores a gorgeous array of breaksy rhythms and subtle melodic jitters, before the intense piano melodies and digital-sounding basslines of 'Da Capo' from Marrz switch up the flavours entirely. Domestic Disturbance then unleashes a display of fun-fueled garage with 'Creepy Wotsit', linking together popping percussive inclusions and skippy drums with some unique results, before finally seeing Dan Speed's 'Let Loose' close the EP out with a dash of high energy dancefloor delight.
