Review: Following the release of his rather good - but arguably overlooked - debut album last year, Anno Stamm has been pretty quiet. Here, he returns to regular home All City with FragmentsB, a kind of partner piece to his 2013 debut for the Irish label, FragmentsA. Like its' predecessor five years ago, it's a quirky but hugely entertaining affair. Opener "La Viande" is nominally a fuzzy and occasionally foreboding house cut, but is a much cheerier affair thanks to the producer's use of cheery, lo-fi synth melodies. There's a similar feel to the full-throttle "Do Yoused To Go", where viscously chopped-up rave riffs and mutant vocal samples ride a crunchy, bass-heavy rhythm track. Finally, the producer's dusty, left-of-centre techno beats are swaddled in decidedly trippy and dubbed-out electronics on rock solid closer "Pyramid Peach".

Review: Berlin's Anno Stamm has released previously on the likes of Meakusma and Macro but now presents his first full length on Ireland's All City Records, who have coincidentally released two EP's by Stamm in the last few years; so he's certainly a staple of the label these days. There's a great variety of moods and grooves on the To Gravit & Symmeth We Ryth LP (what a tongue twister!) such as the low slung acid of "The Streets Where We Live", the retro bleep techno of "Charge It Up To My Account" or "The Cities I Waltzed Through". Or there's just straight up deep house of the most sublime kind on "Sensing Social Sirens".

That Kid From Newport - (4:56) 128 BPM

Review: This young producer has only put out three releases so far, but he is already developing a distinctive identity. Merging found sounds, subtle abstractions and detuned offbeat trance melodies, his latest release sees him bring this bizarre but engaging approach a few steps further. "A Night Out With Therese" is typical of Stamm's sound, fusing tough stomping beats with a resonating, bleep bass and dramatic drops and effects. The title track is even more unusual in that it combines screeching background noises with banging beats and frosty trance melodies. On a different tack is "That Kid From Newport"; while it too is banging and full on, is covered in an acrid acidic veil.

FragmentsA
I Still Have The Photographs - (4:53)
Purple Clouds - (3:11)
A Triangular Patch Of Lip - (5:16) Hot
Review: Stepping up to Dublin's bastion of beats, Anno Stamm is a fresh name by all accounts, although it's hardly surprising to discover that in fact it's 50 Weapons regular Anstam stretching his moniker out for a cheeky excursion further west in Europe. There's still a recognisable complexity to the ingredients Lars Stowe pours into his tracks, as alien melodies and unidentified beat sources bubble away in a thoroughly singular broth, and so the FragmentsA record follows on neatly from the likes of Dispel Dances. If anything has changed for this outing, opening track "I Still Have The Photographs" is slightly more pared down in its amount of elements, but then the hustling drums and twitchy melodies of "Purple Clouds" put paid to that notion. Indeed "A Triangular Patch Of Lip" is equally irreverent, summoning up Italo daemons and electro wraiths for the most discernible floor burner on this record.
