Review: Young Bristol producer Applebottom (aka Joe Arthur) made a big splash a few years ago with his clubtastic debut on Madtech. Since then he's been doing a lot of growing up and with this new one-off, The Ride, he definitely proves that he's come a long way in a short space of time. Having already mastered the club banger, this tune sees him incorporate jazz samples into the mix resulting in a very organic form of house music, laden with atmosphere and hip piano work aplenty. Excellent as always.
Review: Summer's come early for fans of Applebottom as he returns with this new sunkissed one-off "Frustrate". Those expecting more of his percussive underground jams might be disappointed though, as he has clearly encountered a thing called Ibiza and it's rubbed off big style on his music. Everybody else however, will definitely love it as this is his most blissed-out, uplifting Eurodance anthem yet. Think Fred Falke's arpeggiation with extra gushes of synthetic emotion and even a few world music samples tucked in for good measure and you're half way there. The sound of the summer!
