Arishem The Judge - (3:29) 152 BPM
GTF - (4:17) 127 BPM
Review: Next up from the Arkham Sound wave, we hear a fabulous new three track outing arrive, courtesy of the wonderful Perfect NL crew, who continue to impress with every new drop. We begin with the slightly eerie chord-lines and stripped back drum designs of the title track 'Apocalypse Rave', a vibrant yet abstract design that sets the tone for the EP nicely. Next, 'Arishem The Judge' delivers a mind-numbing hardcore display, focussing on heavily overcompressed kick leads and eskimo-style percussion, with the more techno-inspired acidity of 'GTF' then arriving to close things off in style.

Review: Once again the Foundation team have rallied to deliver a system busting selection of original belters, this time welcoming back Arkham Sound. We kick off with the monstrous distorted bass punches of 'Smoke', unleashing pure carnage onto sound systems across the country, before the softened LFO pulses and gnarly textures of 'Nothing Left To Lose' deliver something a little more subtle with their warbling design. From here, 'Gravediggaz' delivers a blippy display of system ready melodic crunches, leading into the slower-paced madness of 'Unrelenting' which uses an array of distorted bass swipes to send the listener into an absolute tiz. Finally, we see the last stroke of sonic-destruction land as 'Bloodless' unleashes one of the most violent displays of distortion out there, giving us a whirlwind of a final addition.

Watcher's Eye - (4:20) 140 BPM Hot
Trenches - (5:03) 141 BPM
Review: The consistency with which the FKOF, aka FatKidOnFire team are able to unleash fresh dubstep heaters is pretty outstanding in the modern climate, with this latest display of mastery from Arkham Sound once again showcasing just how good their catalogue has become. First up, 'Storm Band' takes a slightly slowed pace, packing in a sub-busting bassline and unpredictable drum skips to kick us off with some glamour, before some more swampy LFO work and industrial drum designs are brought to the forefront in 'Cosmic Horror', shaking the system into a rattling wreck. The crunchiness of 'Watcher's Eye' stands out next, with some powerful drum processing and hard-hitting low-end action being the main event, before the skippy rhythms and jittering melodics of 'Trenches' round off the EP with a suitable bang. Lovely work!

Pirate Dub - (4:37) 140 BPM
Review: As the dubstep sound continues to grow, it is important for labels such as the ever-ready Badman studios to stay as ahead of the game as they have been, with this tidy new four track delight from Arkham Sound being yet another belter for their already impressive catalogue. We begin with 'Unknown Force', a subtle, gnarly roller, linking flickering hi-hat manoeuvres and clean drum punches with a sizzling sub-line, perfect for the late night crew. Next, 'Live & Direct' moves into even more swampy territory, with glitchy toplines providing the juice above another booming bassline. From here, 'Last Breath' unleashes a spectacular soundscape of flickering percussion and growling reese bass action, before the warbling subs of 'Pirate Dub' brings us to a tidy close!

Review: The thing we have come to love about the Sentry Records selections over the past few years is that no matter what direction they decide to take it, we just know they are going to deliver quality with whatever they do. This second edition of their 'Syndicate' series is a perfect example of that as they unleash twelve potent dubstep originals, with the likes of Muttley, CITY1, Youngsta, Substance, CIMM and more all getting involved with some pretty incredible work. The project gives us a fabulous listing of the pure expansive nature of dubstep's sound in today's setting, with a couple of favourites including the constantly evolving, eastern-inspired sounds of Saraphim on 'The Fallen', alongside the reecey rumbles of 'Shotta Kush', which sees the super consistent LSN at it once again.

Review: Boy oh boy what a year it has been for the Duploc family, who despite all the madness of 2020 have still kept up their incredible run of consistency, dropping nothing but bangers throughout the duration. This, presumably their final drop of the year sees them pull together a monstrous roster, featuring the likes of Cartridge, BunZer0, Ourman, Opus, Teffa, Sam Cosmic, Xakra and many more to give us one final celebratory look into dubstep in the modern era. The complete track listing is absolutely bonkers to tell you all the truth, with quality leaking out of every single original. Some favourites we have to mention however of course include the sizzling bass designs and spooky textures of Wraz's 'Ghost', alongside the fluttering flute melodies of Mani's 'Secret Forest' and 'Gibberish', a super smooth subby glider from Surreal & Somah.

Review: When we come to discuss consistency, if we are talking within the dubstep scene, there really aren't many labels you look to before you land on Duploc. They are back doing what they do best next as they deliver a monumental compilation project, showcasing some of the hottest dubstep talents in the world right now, including Opus, Teffa, Xakra, Wraz, Sam Cosmic and more. There are some absolute gems to be plucked from this tracklisting, including the upbeat orchestral layouts of 'Secret Forest' from Mani and of course the devilish melodic structures and haunting vocal samples of 'Hidden Blade' from Woven Thorns. Overall, this one is a huge success.
