Review: Artificial Intelligence are back on Metalheadz for their first label EP in three years, a seriously long time considering the foundational role Headz played in their evolution and we're all so happy to see them back. As you would expect, this release takes a step away from the genre of liquid they've been pioneering on Integral for the last few years, and instead blends harsh rolling sounds with lighter flicks to create a diverse, rough and ready piece of work. 'Outer Origins' is certainly tough, with loping drums that flow with restless energy and an expansive, growling bassline that oscillates in the gutter and only goes up from there. 'Good Things' is lovely, spacious liquid that moves through shimmering synth spasms; Satl joins for the minimal soul of 'No Choice'; and title track 'Signs Signs' is warm and evanescent in its movement. Gorgeous stuff.

They never have in the past, they're certainly not right now in the present and judging by this highly anticipated Future album, they're going to mess around any time ahead. 25 tracks from some of the biggest, best and baddest names in D&B (Dillina, Serum, Benny L, Paul T & Edward Oberon, Roni Size, DJ Marky, Drumsound & Bassline Smith, Bladerunner, Saxxon, the list goes on) this one's been a long, long, long time coming... And it's been well worth the wait. From L-Sides massive remixes of Dillinja and Krust to Need For Mirrors super-revved "Lambo" to Benny L's incredible remix of "Days", this sums up why Bryan and his label are as influential and respected in the game as they are today. Don't mess around.

Review: Artificial Intelligence wrap up their album-sized project The Series with a fourth and final dispatch "Outtakes". While outtakes are usually the sole preserve of bloopers and things not good enough for the final cut, here we find Glen and Zula in flip mode as they serve up some of their tastiest dishes of the whole project banquet. "Even Though" ripples like the most soulful tide you've ever dipped your toes in, "Inwards" soothes with a layers of textured vocal elements, "Tainted Soul" is a trip beyond the known universe on a rocket made of sadness while "Masonics" sends us packing with unhealthy doses of lilting pianos and rumbling subs. Classic AI business through and through.

Review: Integral by label name, integral to the scene full stop: Glenn and Zula's AI partnership has been a prominent and consistent voice since the early 2000s. Since 2010 we've seen them dig deep into the album artform with Stand Alone kicking off a slew of LPs, currently climaxing with The Series. Delivered over four parts - two last year, two this year - the full set spans their full gamut touching deep daydream rollers such as "Savour" to much darker, heavyweight pieces such as "Isolate". Each made for the club but executed with depth and restraint to that lends itself to any scenario, it's a great way to sign out of this decade and prime us for what's to come. Integral by nature.

Review: V Recordings do some of the best compilations in the business and their brand new Foundation series is a natural recognition of that fact. They're not being hyperbolic with the usage of the term 'Foundation' either, because this is truly an overview of some of the scene's most foundational producers. Old-school Dillinja, Krust, Roni Size and DJ Die, amongst others, make up the roster of acts that formed an integral part of the genre back in the day. The new crew is also represented, however, in the form of L-Side, Think Tonk, Nasza Linez and loads more, all of whom bring some of that V-style heat. Wicked album - one for the heads.

Review: Integral Records owners Artificial Intelligence launch a new series on the label, dedicated to futuristic sounds. "Degrees of Separation" is a mellow affair, with soulful vocals and atmospheric melodies unfolding over understated drums. On "Missing Piece", the pace is faster and the drums more urgent, but it also features mournful, distended vocals and soft-focus musical elements. While "Tannan" has a slightly darker edge thanks to its slivers of moody bass and tight, insistent break beats, in the main Season 1 is a deeply soulful affair - best typified by the beautiful piano lines that play out over "Street Scenes".

Review: Barely half a year has passed since their long-awaited second album Timeline and Glen and Zula return with four more alluring constructs: "Stand Firm" flexes into the darker side with deft navigation from Visionobi while "Ghost Racoon" goes all-out darkside with its pneumatic hammers and tongs. For deeper experiences head for the sub-rattled "Reunion" and the sublime "Shrine". With its swooning chords and rich orchestration it's near-classical in its dynamism and weight. Review: Five years have passed since AI's debut album Stand Alone. Five years worth waiting: After a string of universally received samplers, Glen and Zula finally unleash the whole set. Clearly in journey mode, the LP works really well as a listening experience as much as it does in the dance. From the gentle wafts and breezes of "Aroma" to the much darker DRS-drenched designs of "Pass The Buck" and the gritty, Metalheadz homage "The Source" back the majestic touches of two Dawn Wall collaborations, this is Artificial Intelligence at their most comprehensive and clear. Attention to detail has been paid to the finish of each track, ensuring a sheen and consistency that you really don't hear in drum & bass albums that often. Timeless.

Review: Five years have passed since Artificial Intelligence last gave the world an album. The world of drum & bass has changed vastly since then, but they continue to plough their timeless path uncompromisingly. Like the first sampler, this EP features some very well selected guests (Terri Walker who has worked extensively with Spectrasoul and Swindle and the anonymous Dawn Wall) but the real stars are Zulu and Glenn. "Is This Real" is a purring double bass glider a la Full Cycle, "Scrolls" is a majestic diva-peppered dreamer (think early High Contrast or Logistics) "Justify" is a big old soul shock-out that's up there with their modern-classic "You Can Dream". Album hype doesn't get more beautiful than this.

Two major league collaborations at play: First up DRS spits his distinctive barbed bars over a dystopian cymbal splashing grit-fest. Review: V Recordings: A genus source for drum and bass, the launch pad of so many great careers it's not worth counting and still a consistent source of forward-thinking beats. If any label can justify five volumes of back-cat badness, it's Bryan Gee's. Going right back to 1993 (Roni Size's "Timestretch"), we whistle, rattle and roll past some of the label's (and scene in general's) titans. Dillinja is repped hard with an array of discography highlights such as the shattered amen attack plan ("Bad Man"), Krust is paid in full with cuts such as the minimal muscle roller "Set Speed", jungle godfather Sappo reminds us of real old school with "Into The Light" while Future Cut's later-era "Prophecy" is rewound to great effect. And that's just five of the album's 21 chapters. A must read document for junglists old and young.

Review: The D&B scene wouldn't be the vibrant place it is today without the existence of Artificial Intelligence, so it's surprising to be reminded that they've "only" been around for a decade. Still, in those 10 years they've managed to cement themselves as true pioneers of their sound, pushing soulful drum and bass in ever darker directions. Tracks like "Deadly Melody" and "Thundercloud" showcase their love for all things deep and destructive, but opener "Forgotten Truths" is truly beautiful, albeit with rumbling stormclouds overhead. A stunning start to 2015.

Review: If you thought you were in for a treat with a brand new Jubei tune to rinse, just how much better did your day get when you found out dBridge was in on the action? A deep, dark, filthy rumbler of a track, "These Things" VIP was made especially for underground dancefloors in the dead of winter. Artificial Intelligence follows up with "Dillirious" VIP which looks to be one of the pair's most aggressively roof-raising releases in recent memory. Packed with punchy snares and a big, menacing bassline that just keeps on uncoiling from a tight mid-range of Tesla coil effects, it's the best conclusion to two perfect VIPs hammered out of two already damn good tracks.

Stepping hard with techy breaks, there's no doubt "Dillirious" is well on it's way to crowding out dancefloors across the globe. Reining back the crazed passion for a minute on the flipside, warm vibes and smooth, soulful lyrics are juxtaposed against crisp percussion. Showing both sides of the AI coin, this release proves there's still nothing they can't do.

With it comes a wealth of old jungle riddims, influential classics and long forgotten favourites from the likes of DJ Die, Roni Size, Ray Keith, Krust, Lemon D and more. Gee opens in style with the Brizzle roller "Fashion" by the legendary Roni Size and maintains the pressure throughout, dropping gems such as DJ Die's "Something Special", Krust's iconic stepper "Check Dis Out" and the jazzy, liquid loveliness of Lemon D's "Get On Down" with its shimmying, sunshine filled vibes. For a trip down memory lane, this one's essential.

Review: Marking a triumphant return after last year's widely lauded Stand Alone LP, Artificial Intelligence offer up this brace of relicks. Firstly they overhaul "Pigeon Hole" with assistance on mic duties from the ever reliable MC DRS. Originally an instrumental track, his vocal lends a fresh flavour to this standout track from the album. Up next, the mighty Dillinja returns to do the damage on 2004's classic "Uprising" which switches things up with typically frantic percussion and furious bass stabs. Made to be played on the loudest system known to man.
