Review: Issued on the new Lobster Theremin sub-label Higher Power, Jimmy Asquith delivers a blistering selection. The title track sets the tone for the EP, with the label boss combining wild rave stabs with a breakneck paced rhythm and glitchy percussive bursts. while "Wait A Minute" sees him combine hardcore riffs with a mixture of intense kicks and rolling breaks. Asquith integrates wild tonal sequences with militaristic percussion to create an intense piece of high-octane techno on "Escape Hatch (Running mix)", while "Bergamot (Scent mix)" is a more straightforward, heads-down banger that builds to the sound of grinding, gritty riffs.

Review: Refusing to give way to the ambient pastures of 2020 Lobster Theremin head honcho Asquith follows up his Rave Till Dawn EP with this thumping Love Is A Mystery EP. Throwing down four numbers filled with the kind of booming confidence you'd expect from a Head High production, Asquith goes his own way by keeping it lo-fi with the right kind of aggression that doesn't rely on distortion. With 909 techno and heavy dub influences flaring in "Let Me (Thunder mix)", Asquith adds a houseir groove and rave elements to "Return Of Mountain Dad" while keeping it heavy on the kick drum. Touches of filtered disco (albeit deep house) rise through the mix in the title track backed up by some quintessential jungle elements with some real heavy dub techno through in "Risk It All". Love may be a mystery but rave is rave.

Review: With a plethora of labels, projects and aliases being born, cultivated and developed under the Lobster Theremin banner, main man Asquith for some three years now has been cultivating his own sound via the Asquith side-imprint. This Rave Til Dawn EP is as direct to contemporary throw-backs as you could imagine, harking more recently to a booming club sound brought into focus not so long ago by Shed's Head High and WK7 projects. Inspired by breaks, jungle and rave as much a booming four-to-the-floor techno, Asquith turns in two cuts of new school styles on the one side, firing in two muscular sessions of warehouse techno on the other. Till the breaka-break-dawn.

Terror Barrier - (6:18) 143 BPM
Higher Power - (9:24) 137 BPM
Review: Lobster Theremin boss Jimmy Asquith follows Touch The Sky with this 90s-referencing release. First up is the 'Rave Mix' of the title track; underpinned by high-octane, rolling breaks and featuring chilling synth stabs and sped-up vocal samples, it mines the heritage of early 90s hardcore, coupled with a modern execution. "Terror Barrier" on the other hand suggests that Asquith was also a fan of the tougher end of techno from the same decade, as he deploys a buzzing analogue bass and mangled percussion to beat a path towards peak-time abandon. Changing tact again, Asquith goes down a somewhat deeper route for "Higher Power", where haunting chord stabs are propelled onto the dance floor courtesy of a pumping rhythm

The Conditioning Track
The Conditioning Track (NYC mix) - (5:41) 130 BPM Hot
The Conditioning Track (North London mix) - (5:21) 128 BPM
Review: Jimmy Asquith may be best known as the founder of the ever-growing Lobster Theremin empire, but he's also capable of producing dancefloor gold. We've learnt that much via previous releases under the Chicago Flotation Device and Tom Hang aliases. Here, as Asquith, he serves up his most gargantuan set of club tracks yet. The A-side "NYC Mx" of "The Conditioning Track" is a percussive, energy-packed great, with sweaty, old school vocal samples rising above a redlined rhythm track and a naughty, UK garage style bassline. The flipside "North London Mix" is similarly heavy, albeit a little less percussively intense and blessed with a more musical feel thanks to the presence of a classic deep house riff.
