Review: Aussie disco don Dr Packer has been Glitterbox Recordings' go-to remixer for some time now. Three years ago, the label opened up its archives and allowed him free reign to rework whatever he wanted, releasing the results as Dr Packer's Different Strokes. This belated sequel follows a similar blueprint, collecting together a wealth of remixes as well as a couple of non-stop DJ mixes of the same material. Much of the music is authentically disco-centric - think organic instrumentation, swirling strings and rushing vocals - with just enough grunt to please those dancefloors the require 21st century low-end weight. Highlights include a glassy-eyed take on Aeroplane's 'Love on Hold', a sing-along version of Lemelle's boogie gem 'You Got Something Special' and a handful of fine rubs of the Shapeshifters.

Review: Like its' predecessors, this year's edition of Armada Deep's annual Miami WMC themed compilation is an absolute treasure trove of dancefloor treats for DJs who enjoy the more melodious, soaring and electronic end of the house spectrum. It boasts no less than 40 full-length, floor-friendly cuts, including tracks from some of the biggest names in the game. With such an epic track listing, picking highlights is tough. Review: As you'd expect, given the label's runaway success over the past few years, there are plenty of very familiar cuts on this 52-track 'best of' from the all-conquering Toolroom, including GotSome's tribal smash 'Nomad Chat', label boss Mark Knight's infuriatingly catchy, flute-driven Shovell collab 'Selecao', Mendo's sample-heavy G-houser 'Mooving' and CamelPhat's remix of Fatboy Slim. But there are plenty of less heavily rinsed gems on offer too, and with tracks from the likes of D.Ramirez, Leftwing & Kody, Dosem, DJ S.K.T and Dale Howard plus reworks of Sterling Void and Todd Terry classics, it's a no-brainer for tech-house jocks on a budget.

Review: For a long time, Perth's Greg Packer was considered a veteran of the local drum and bass scene, but in the last few years has reinvented himself as Dr Packer - and become one of the best of the best disco editors on the scene at present. It made perfect sense for him to give "Confess" his personal touch for the nu-disco heads, as he was one of the supporters of the track from the very beginning. He stays faithful to the original mix, where he adds an incessant bassline, his trademark beats, disco flourishes and works the arrangement to fever pitch!

Review: ATFC is the long-running pseudonym for Aydin Hasirci, one of the UK's most experienced house producers. Having scored a huge hit at the tail end of the 90s with "In and Out of My Life", he has remained very much in the same style, putting out vocal house on labels like Toolroom and Defected. Hasirci's latest venture is on Riva Starr's label and is more reflective of its tech-house sound. The title track fuses a time-stretched double bass with a soulful vocal and insistent, hollowed out drums to create a distinctive house track. Meanwhile, Harry Romero adds a techy flavour on his remix, adding moody chord sequences and big break downs into the mix.

Review: For their latest trip into celebratory disco territory, Glitterbox Recordings has asked Aussie rework fiend Dr Packer to get busy with a quartet of dancefloor classics. He begins by putting his stamp of LaTrece's Mark Kinchen-produced 1993 cover of Alicia Myers' "I Want To Thank You", giving it a breezier and more boogie-influenced feel, before moving further towards hybrid disco/soulful house territory on a fine rub of Shuya Okino's 2011 jam "Still in Love". Flip to the virtual flipside for a pitched down, electrofunk-fired rework of ATFC's "Bad Habit" that's more in keeping with the 1985 Jenny Burton cut on which it was based, and a gently beefed-up take on Soul Rebels' tasty cover of Rene and Angela boogie classic "I'll Be Good".

Review: Back in the 90s, two fresh faced young DJs Seamus Haji (Big Love) and Aydin (ATFC) met whilst working together at Uptown Records in London (with an even younger Tim Deluxe). The rest as they say, is history. They've not collaborated in ages, so now is as good a time as any to put that right. The Club mix, "Confess" delivers what the pair do best - slammin', chunky, hands-in-the-air diva house that's all about the joy. The original version, based on an old demo of theirs, is less house, and more of a pure disco jam. Good times!

Review: Absent for a long time on Defected's roster, ATFC's Aydin is back finally with the disco-main room stomp of "Dazzle". Fusing some chopped, orchestral disco hits to a driving tech beat is a masterstroke, but it just gets better and better as he slyly loops parts from the sequence until they engulf the entire mix and rise to a huge, delirious climax. Backing "Dazzle" up is the samba-house of "Can You Feel It" which keeps the bass low and moody while cowbells and Latin percussion hits rattle away gloriously to keep things driving along nicely. Good to see a long-term funky-house don back on great form.
