Review: Stockholm based Omena Limited is back after a short hiatus with its fifth release, which follows up great ones by Ponty Mython, Lancelot and Preslav. This time it's over to Japanese producer Atsushi Yano, who over the years has released everywhere from Let's Play House, Nang and even Ben Sims' Ingoma back in the day. Here he delivers the Rotties Bites EP: three organic and live-sounding percussion filled tracks, that are totally infectious. From the spiritual, Afro vibe of the mesmerising "Fat Tail" and its hypnotic polyrhythms, to the low slung, funked-up soul power of "Plugged Nickel" with its smooth Rhodes action. Lastly, the smoky free-jazz action of "Barbital" shows the producer's more daring side.
