Review: Last spotted on various Liondub International VA collections, the currently unstoppable B-Plexx makes his full EP debut on the US label with these four fiery bruisers. 'Voodoo' stirs up some serious black magic to set the scene. Tight drums, groaning basses and an ice cold sample, it leaves us under no illusion as to what's next... 'Artillery' is all about those buzzy high frequency licks, 'Displacement' is a wonky old affair that you could imagine someone like Tyke or Hazard dropping at 6am and twisting minds while 'Power Of Mind' closes on a dark, demonic tip. Review: Madness from Manchester! Sola's Grand Theft Audio wrap up another stunning year with this truly epic VA that - as the title Full Spectrum nicely hints - reflects and celebrates the full dynamic range of this beautiful thing we call drum & bass. Over the 33 track range we're treated to all manner of treats and beats from dreamy disco-like flexes (B-Plexx - 'Cynical') to wild, untamed howlers that melt clothes within seconds of you hearing the bass (Replete - ' Theia'). There's so much swagger in between, too. Hologram's G'd up 'Make A Move' acts as the perfect opener while other cuts such as Korrode's futuristic dark funk stepper 'Alternate Universe', Voltone & Stuart Rowe's euphoric dancefloor bubbler 'Drift' and Tong8's soulful swooner 'Choice' all map out some of GTA's most exciting sonic parameters so far. Review: Manchester label Hydrated Audio hook up with Akimbo to bring in a cross pollination of artists across eight diabolical numbers. Get some new-school pop vocals and electro chiptune out of Error's "Closer" next to some middle eastern percussion and dipping synths in BIG SIRS Arabian Nights. Jackhammer distortion in FRAXION's "On My Back" hits the spot, while KLIMATE's "Winner" introduces some ragga-jungle vibes in tandem with the liquid rhythms, tear out bass sequences and deep textures of B-Plexx's "Death Wish". Stand out bass drops on this compilation come from Begone's "Favour" (tip) alongside the more urban flavours of Sanity's "Dissociation" and a flurry of explosive sound in GEO's "Ominious".

Review: Invicta have been making some serious waves the past year or so and with a growing recognition that they're one of the best labels releasing a consistent slew of music, they're celebrating their evolution with a multi-part LP. This is the first instalment and a whole crew is on things with a six-tracker of frightening proportions, packed full of solid percussive strikes and flowing basslines. 'Dance Girl' has a seriously funky rhythmic pattern and a slick array of basslines, whilst 'Life' takes things in a funkier direction with ragga sampling and a fluid concoction of sub-heavy bass magic. There are also more melancholic, deeper sounds, as B-Plexx nails the liquid vibe on 'Too High' - top.

Review: The first VA from new label Bare Necessity is here, and it's one of the techiest various LPs that has ever graced the doors of Juno. Featuring a slew of talented acts, all of whom deserve more recognition, Bare Necessities Volume 1 focuses on just that: the bare necessities. Drum & bass doesn't need more than top quality drums and dirty basses, and these are present in spades across all of these tunes. RumRolla's 'Whistle' is the highlight, with its juddered, jagged blend of moody techno force that spins and spins until you don't know which direction is up. Missledz gets super deep on 'Surveillance', B-Plexx gets choppy on 'The Devil' and there's plenty more on offer. Awesome stuff.

Review: Hyrdrated Audio have clearly decided that they're going to grab 2020 by the horns and do everything they can to make this year the year that their imprint makes it. You can tell the extent of their determination from the precision with which they've curated this EP from B-Plexx and the mix of vibes and quality is top notch. The opening tune from says it all, a rolling grater of chopped-up bass synths that'll pace out its competitors. A favourite of ours is 'Pistol', another lovely rolling number that flips your expectations on its head with a flow of creativity - big tune. Wicked stuff.

Review: Gunfingers at the ready gang, Lickwood & Gunshot fire up the shots with their biggest release to date; a 20 track stacked banger bonanza from some of the sharpest new shooters in town. It's business from the off as Visuals gets busy with the cantankerous kicks and sing-along vocals on "Lights Out" and it continues to hit the target right the way through to DJ Direkt's skittering, paranoid finale "Too Hawt". Highlight heat can be found in every corner across the collection; Pablo G gets all slinky in the jungle on "The Rumbler", Jomari's "Yuh Na Hear" is a lesson in restrained ruffage, B-Plexx's "Remedy" soothes the soul with its breathy vocal and bubbly bassline, the list goes on...
