Review: An exercise in sophisticated chill-out from German label ChinChin, as they collect fourteen mellifluous tracks from their roster to make up this latest volume in their Cafe Du Soleil compilation series. Off to a sublime jazz start with Bebo Best & The Super Lounge Orchestra's "Now & Ever", Volume 5 keeps things nice and relaxed with touches of bossa nova (Take Five's "Longitude 54-21"), deep house (Kitty The Bill's "Mia My Mia") and soulful chanson (Club Des Belugas' "The Road Is Lonesome").
Review: Compiled by German label ChinChin, this second volume of their "Night Over Rio" series is a wonderful mix of exotica and jazz, led off by an essential new remix of The Andrew Sisters' classic calypso tune "Rum & Coca Cola" by JoJo Effect. More samba/tropicalia influences emerge on songs like Bebo Best & The Super Lounge Orchestra's "Oh Jeje" or "Sousalicious" by Tape Five, while JoJo Effect strikes again with a breezy mix of exotica legend Les Baxter's "Taboo".

JoJo Effect - "feat K Boes & P Schug & L Kuklinski Brass Des Belugas" - (4:55) 118 BPM
Club Des Belugas - "Clyde Beluga" - (4:03) 120 BPM
Tape Five - "Dixie Bisquit" - (3:49) 98 BPM
Review: ChinChin, a label that has championed the electro swing sound in recent years, releases this latest collection of jazz/swing/exotica remixes and originals from their stable of producers. The smooth tones of Bing Crosby get reanimated by JoJo Effect on "I'm An Old Cowhand", while that old staple of New Orleans, "Sing, Sing, Sing" gets a cracking revisit by Bebo Best & The Super Lounge Orchestra. Elsewhere, The Andrews Sisters and Dean Martin get given housey makeovers, while others like Tape Five's "A Cool Cat In Town" will keep your jazz hands firmly out and proud.
