Review: Manchester artist Belly is back with his second EP of 2014 released through his new inprint Belly Dance, and this time he is joined by East End Soul vocalist Shona Carmen. Belly's second EP sees him up the pace slightly from his inaugural release, moving slightly away of the slow beat of his earlier tracks and embarking on a slightly more uptempo, swing style. "Control" is a hazy club track with strong vocals from both Belly and Shona backed up by drum and bass beats, followed by vocal-heavy space beats in the form of "Zu". We see the real inpact of Carmen with a club track loaded with summer vibes called "Painting", while Timothy J Fairplay brings in his own take on 90s Chicago garage music with a banging remix of "Dark Autumn" from Belly's debut release.

Review: Surfacing from the back streets of greater Mancunia, mystery artist Belly arrives with the first record on their new Belly Dance label. With little more information to go on, let's focus on the music with the two original tracks from Belly making for interesting listening. Lead cut "Dark Autumn" is a slow beat sleaze production dominated by the vocals, big kicks and heavy synths that would go down well late into the night at Horse Meat Disco. "Farewell" is equally hard to pin down, taking on a more overtly hip hop style and is packed thick with textural and sampled detail. Rob 'Headman' Insinna turns in two New Beat style remixes of "Dark Autumn" that will appeal to the more adventurous selectors.
