Review: Hannover's Peppermint Jam predicts that 2018 will be a good year for house music - and what better to support this than with the third outing of the mighty Jam Files series. The label's very own Mousse T. starts the journey with a fresh exclusive, featuring the inimitable Peven Everett on the sensual jam "Pleasure" and even a remix of his anthem "Horny" from '96 by Scott Diaz. Elsewhere, there's also a rework of the classic "Never Enough" by Hamburg legend Boris Dlugosch, plus future classics by newbies like Studioheist on their deep and soulful "In Control" featuring the smooth as silk vocals of Andre Espeut. Also, Raw Instinct get their hot track "De La Bass" reworked by Montreal hero Fred Everything. Jam Files III is the perfect offering for every house music fan or 'music connoisseur' according to the label - we'd have to agree!

Review: It may only be two tracks deep, but Ben Gomori's first outing for Tensnake's True Romance label could well be his best solo release to date. That's a bold claim given the Monologues and Sterns Edits founder's track record in recent years, but it's one we stand by. For proof, check first superb opener 'Choom', a bustling, off-kilter and peak-time ready chunk of jacking analogue house/disco-fusion rich in booming bass, cut-up orchestral stabs, sweaty drums, mind-mangling acid lines and sampled vocals. Equally as inspired is Ground Plain Aerial hook-up 'Karumi', where twinkling piano motifs, dreamy vocalisations and glassy-eyed chords rise above stuttering, delay-laden proto-house drums and a Boyd Jarvis style bassline.

Review: Fresh from outings on Stamp Records and True Romance, Monologue Records and Sterns Edits founder Ben Gomori makes his bow on House of Disco. There are two top-notch original productions to savour: the squelchy bass and even squelchier 'acid' thrills of nu-disco-tinged jack-track '7am at Wintergarten', and the similarly TB-303 laden - but altogether more spacey-sounding - electronic house bounce of 'Mars Joint'. The accompanying remix package is predictably strong, with Massimo Pagliara adding a touch of star-fall brilliance to '7am at Wintergarten', before Jordan Nocturne beefs up 'Mars Joint' in an Italo-goes-acid-house style. The SHEE Remix of the same track, meanwhile, is a tough-but-heady techno take that will appeal to many modern DJs.

Review: It's been over 15 years since this writer was one of 100 or so who gathered in a sweaty, low-raftered Amsterdam basement to witness the live debut of Dutch funk and disco hopefuls Kraak & Smaak. Since then, the young pretenders have gone on to become true elder statesmen of the scene - which is another way of saying that you just KNOW the quality bar on this latest collection of contemporary disco, funk and boogie grooves is going to be set high. There's no room here to go into all 24 tracks one-by-one, but with contributions from the likes of Ben Gomori, Flevans and Hotmood alongside a host of more up-and-coming names, suffice to say lovers of the aforementioned styles will not be in the least bit disappointed.

Review: It's taken Ben Gomori a while to establish himself - he made his debut way back in 2009 - but in recent years he's become a go-to producer and remixer for labels who like testing the boundaries between deep house, disco and indigenous music from around the world. On this two tracker, he opts for a more celebratory, warehouse-ready sound, first delivering an excitable blend of hip-house, Latin-drums and vintage Masters At Work dubs on the fizzing 'Chin Chin Boom'. He opts for a warmer (but no less percussively punchy and club-focused) sound on 'Emotional Weather', where Italo-disco and proto-house style synth stabs, jacking drum machine snares and uplifting melodic motifs rise above a fantastically retro-futurist groove.
