Review: Benoit B is getting to a level where his productions are an effortless fusion of house and bass, crossing the lines between genres and winning the minds (and feet!) of dancers worldwide. His last EP for Berceuse Heroique was an excellent ride, although this new outing on Wisdom Teeth sees the producer go one step further into the abyss of sounds that represent his vision. "Vague A l'Ame" is a broken beat tool, surrounded by beautifully aqueous melodies, and "Gyvenimo Tekme evolves the same proposition onto an even looser, more ethereal platform. "Ice Valley" is moody and dubbed-out, bringing through sparse percussion snaps and hypnotic synths, whereas "Kimono" ends on a vast, explorative house landscape in the same tone as peeps like Dynamo Dreesen, SVN, and the Mood Hut collective. A stunning house escapade!

Review: After much hype and noise about "never releasing on digital", Greece's Berceuse Heroique has finally succumbed to the online era of music. Whatever your opinions may be, we couldn't be happier seeing as the label's music will now be exposed to a much more 'above the line' audience. This latest batch of ambient-filtered, pseudo-dance gems come from France's Benoit B, who has previously appeared on Gil'Br's Versatile, among other imprints. Japonaiserie, much like its title implies, is a soft and delicate brand of uncompromising outsider music, stemming from this generation's new found love for 'new age'. In truth, this is a spectacular replication of the sounds that instilled the ethos of the 1980s, bringing out the power of synths and machines, both digital and analogue. Through interweaving streams of shimmering melodies, detuned sonics, and all sorts of other cinematic qualities, Benoit B's music is memorable and captivating.
