Review: The Parallel EP from Bernd Maus is the German's first EP since 2004 and it comes as a three-track revival. A dubby "Statik" loops and evolves with a production mode geared at keeping the dancefloor chugging, while the title track does away with chords and reverb, it relies on a gritty cyclic rhythm with tinges of tech house added with offbeat tribal toms. A high pitched synth in "Vertikal" sounds like a hospital flatline, as Bernd Maus moves away from a four-four drum sequence into sparse and syncopated terrain.
