London based, Paris born BIG DOPE P is making bass fueled waves, emerging as one of Europe’s premier DJs and producers in his field. Touring worldwide and working with some of the biggest names in both dance music and rap – including Basement Jaxx, Kaytranada, Duck Sauce, Rustie, Pusha T, Todd Terry, Maya Jane Coles, Lil Wayne, Todd Edwards Ryan Hemsworth, Crookers & many more his signature sound blends footwork, house, hip-hop and electro, creating dynamic and memorable tracks that punch hard and linger long in the memory.
He co-founded the infamous MOVELTRAXX imprint when he was 16 which releases the best Footwork, Ghetto House & Jersey Club Music since 2007 with records from DJ Earl (Teklife), Traxman, DJ Rashad, Paul Johnson or DJ Tameil to name a few. Dope P also released on other prestigious labels like Fool's Gold, Ed Banger, LuckyMe, Nervous, Ninja Tune, OWSLA or Local Action and more.
After a string of successful EPs & singles, P released his debut album MEHLISH ("Don't Worry"/"It's OK" in Arabic) which features collaborations with a wide range of singularly talented artists, including TT The Artist, DJ Slugo, Karlito (from legendary french rap band Mafia K1 Fry), Mighty Mark, DJ Jayhood, Feadz and more. Infused with that instantly recognisable Big Dope P sound, the LP packs in influences from Chicago Ghetto House to French Hip Hop via Footwork, 80s Funk & US/UK rap across 11 distinct and dynamic tracks.

We see the project explore numerous different areas, from the heavily sampled vocal chops of DJ Tameil's 'Rude Boy Giddy Up and Mighty Mark & TT The Artist's 'Say Yeah', through to the more disco-laced drives of Dudley Slang's 'Glaiatoreyz' or Househead Samira's 'Radio Safia'. The range is very impressive across this wicked 15 track collection, with our favourites including the warm chord lines of Lil 'Tal's Radio edit version of Paul Johnson's 'Dance With Me', next to the glittering landscapes of Kozee's 'Tropical Pizza'. Review: Seeing the names Big Dope P and Moveltraxx in the same sentence is always going to be an exciting way to start the week, as we see the two entities combine for a sizzling thirteen track album, taking the title 'Mehlish'. This is a fantastic showcasing of just how creative people can get within the boundaries of the Juke / Footwork sound, from the rave-ready 4x4 thumps of 'Ride It' with TT The Artist & Feadz, to the more mechanical percussive displays of 'Ugly' with Mighty Mark and the epic 80's synth slides of 'Diaphane'. It's difficult to actually highlight a standout set, with the overall quality of this project being so high. One standout however has to be one of the bonus tracks entitled 'Presidential Pimping', which we can see working extremely well as a D&B double drop, utilizing regal sounding horn stabs and hard hitting drums to tremendous effect.
