Review: There are fewer things more exciting than a brand new Artikal Music drop landing in the store, especially when we have Bisweed at it's head, delivering a soul-shaking double up of bass infused weapons, perfect for the late night ravers. For a techy introduction, we kick off with 'Matrix', a glitchy sweep through syncopated rhythms and pulsating bass pops, giving us a seriously otherworldly feel from start to finish, topped off with some fabulous metallic drum work. On the flip, we take things old school as the tribal percussion and unique soundscaping of 'Leak' gives us another tasty bite of originality, providing us with a wicked b-side, stuffed to the brim with original flavour.

Review: As one of the most undeniably consistent dubstep imprints of 2022, we are thrilled to see the Infernal Sounds crew turning the heat up right from the start of the year as they deliver a mega compilation project, featuring 17 absolute sizzlers. The range that Infernal Sounds are able to deliver is very apparent across this project from start to finish, from the otherworldly chord shimmers of Conzi's 'Drift' to the more sublow synthesiser sweeps of 'Executioner' from Blottarz and all the way back to the intricate percussive mastery of Bisweed's 'By My Side'. It's an all star cast, with the likes of Mistah, Substrada, Dayzero, Gnesha, Kodama and more all providing heavy hitters, with our favourites including E S P's super spooky whirlpool entitled 'Open Mind', next to Saraphim's super smooth 'Cool Box' original.

Review: Next up from the team over at DMWSOUND, we see them get real busy, unveiling the first edition of their brand new compilation series 'Dmwsound Presents'. This selection is a fantastic pinpointer to where dubstep currently sits as a whole in 2021. The spectrum for this one covers a super wide range, with the likes of Panix firstly supplying the system ready goods on 'Peppermint', followed by the old school LFO action of 'Overthrow' from Ranking Dan and the spicy subs of Teffa's 'The Chase'. From here we dive into a much more minimal display from Inner Echo on 'Nuff Dollars', before Breez displays some tectonic plate-shifting sub horn punches on 'BrassGas' and Tik&Borrow deliver a creeping roller by the name of 'Microbeam'. Finally, Bisweed's 'Directions' sits ready to put the subs through their paces, before rounding off on 'Angel Dust', a slower explosion of rhythmic perfection from Tribal Dubs. What a collection this is!

Review: The Dank N Dirty Dubz team have become synonymous with top quality releases over the past few years and this latest selection is a continuation of that theme as they welcome ten of the best inside for a fantastic 4/20 compilation. The roster is incredible, with heavyweight names including Roommate, Pushloop, Roklem, Enigma Dubz and more. There are some incredible tunes throughout, with our favourites including The Widdler's phenomenal dubwise creation in 'Toker, the purple synthesizer slams of 'Cider from Bisweed and of course the breaksy brilliance of Jafu's 'Nuken'.

Review: As always with Hatched, we were excited to see this link up announced as Bisweed lands for his latest project, this time concentrating his uniquely swampy steppers sound into three hard hitting original creations. First up, the rapidfire LFO bass structures and extremely rhythmic percussive structures of 'Ambush' kick off the party. After this we observe the stunning sub rolls and incredibly crunchy drumwork of 'Haptics' before the moogy synth textures and choppy shaker slaps of 'Rolling Stones' put the finishing touches on the project, and what a selection it is!

Review: It's time to saddle up and strap in as we dive head first into the second edition of Subaltern's heavyweight 'Kaleidoscope' series, championing new school dubstep creations with a real dash of finesse. We begin with the untouchable unpredictability of Dalek One, who unleashes a horde of glitchy tripletted bass stabs, expanding into epic horn-like leads as the track progresses. This leads perfectly into Clearlight's more minimalistic 'Stuck Inside' composition, focussing on hypnotic atmospherics and spooky vocals, before Phossa rolls through with the haunted arrangements of 'Vacant'. Finally, Bisweed rounds this one up in good fashion as the rolling 808's and jittery percussive layers of 'Profround' emerge.

Review: Everyone loves swampy dubstep, and who better to supply us with our fix than Estonia's own: Bisweed. In collaboration with Subaltern Records, he has put together a very potent two tracker, focussing on the deepest and darkest ideas within the dubstep bracket. On the A-side we hear the unpredictable percussive rolls and downright dirty bass patterns of 'Shelter'. The first of the two B-side tracks are entitled 'Swamp' and 'Dolmen'. These two are real rollers complete with amphibian-like percussion, chilling synths and perfectly timed chord stabs. The EP is then rounded up with the digital only download of 'Chase' which is aptly named for its incredibly high energy journey through amazonian percussion. Great stuff!

Review: Bisweed's output for the Paradise Lost label has been among his very best and, alongside the likes of the big boy such as Deep Medi Muzik, the label is also gaining traction as home to some of the best meditative dubstep around. He's back with the second volume of the Steampunk series, and the dreamy harmonic folds of "Aurora Borealis" are the perfect opener to what is one long, spiritual bass journey of an EP. "The Perfect Knowledge" is darker, moodier, and represents the doorway to a much more ominous stratosphere on "Magnetic Field VIP", a missile guided by just the right amount of 'wobble'. "Impedance" is the final piece of the puzzle and, it too, ups the tempo and drives proudly into more stepping motions. Illness

Review: Long-standing Estonian beat carver Bisweed has cooked up two seriously sweet treats right here. Both generous on the piano and soul dynamics, both cuts are too weighty and widescreen to be filed under the 'deep' banner... "Baby" oozes some class with its humanoid harmony sample swooning us into the night while "Fay" leads on a more dominant jazz piano sample that gradually unfolds into scrumptious summer stepper. Gourmet Beats have gone and got themselves a new head chef right about now.

Review: What a cool way to celebrate half a decade of dark dance dynamics. Not just a cool reminder of Paradise Lost's contribution and dedication to the scene, but a subtle way of showing that their b-sides are just as important, timeless and essential as their A-sides. Highlights can be found in every direction across the 26 tracks but here are a few for starters: the demonic guitar chugs on "Titanium" (which actually sound like they could be from the metal band Paradise Lost!), the thick dream-weaving atmospheres and trippiness of "Elephant Walk", the jugular-slicing riff of "Cuttin" and the loopy vocal insanity of "Guardian"... we could go on all day here. Dig deep and you'll find many more highlights. Here's to another five years!

Review: It's been a while since the young Estonian Bisweed last appeared on Paradise Lost - "Ghosts & Ghouls" in the summer of 2012 to be precise -but he's made up for lost time with this far-reaching six-tracker. Ranging from the off-beat clicks, whirrs and bubbling, aquatic sound design of "Ghosts VIP" to the spacious low-end screams and harrowed groove of "Magnetic Field" via the Mancini-like cinematic samples of the title track, it's Bisweed at his deepest, darkest and most devious. Complete with a step-heavy tripped out remix of "Ghosts" by Ax Farel, this is a very dangerous package indeed. Drop the bomba!

Review: Five years fly by, but make no mistake: it's a long time in the label game. Especially a game as crowded and competitive as dubstep. Paradise Lost's success can be attributed to their constant hunt for brand new talent and an ever-developing remit that embraces melody, emotion and organic elements. If you've missed out on any of their half-decade highlights, here's a great place to catch up. Highlights include the blissed out shimmers of Vesicle's "We Are Lost", Rrkk's LFO-style angular amen ruck-out "Treish" and the somnambulant sub sludge on Dubtek & The SubDivision's oppressive stomper "Mecca".
