Review: A label that likes its edits 'deep n' thick', Editorial have rustled a killer new compilation, Funkquinox, of their favourite recent slo-mo disco. Some of our faves from this eight-track compilation include Bloody Tadi's deep, soulful and sublime houser "Take A Ride", the shimmering disco haze of Alfonso's "Only Love" and Suptil's beautifully distant sensuous future-memory, "Metro To Paradise 84".
Review: Having previously shown his disco-centric, party-starting side via releases on Cold Busted, Freak 2 Freak and Chopshop, Dubai-based DJ/producer Bloody Tadi has decided to prove his deep house credentials with an album of tracks for Hotbox Recordings. The result is a sensuous, rolling and atmospheric affair that combines dreamy chords, undulating electronics and sturdy grooves with a range of disco, boogie and '80s soul samples. While Tadi shows he's capable of doing deep tech-house well (see "Motion Emotion" and slow jam "Moon Noodles"), it's the more soul-flecked tracks, such as the Tiger and Woods style chugger "Routin", that really impress.
Review: They seek him here, they seek him there, the elusive Bloody Tadi is rumoured to dwell everywhere from Dubai to Slovenia. What we do know is that Chopshop has gone beyond the traditional edit route and presented us with this excellent four-track hybrid of deep house and slo-mo disco. Highlights include the pilled up g-funk of "No Worms" and the deep and jazzy womb-house of "Been Too Long".
