Review: It's always exciting to see the heavyweights of 140 land on Nomine Sound, a defined imprint within the dubstep and grime intersection which this time sees both Boylan and Slimzee arrive for a sizzling new four tracker. We open up with the title track 'LDNMSV', a gritty through swampy bass expression and crunchy drum stabs that immediately inject energy into our eardrums, before 'Labello Blanco' fuses haunted breaksy drum lines with more gnarly bass drones for another wicked combination. From here, 'Ephemerol East' then ups the pace once again with more choppy breaks action and an even more metallic sense of synthetic power, before 'Come On In' sees U.S.F join the party for one final throwdown, fusing creepy vocal chops with a monstrous lead synthesiser and more lively drum work to see the EP out in style.

Review: It's been a little while since we last had the pleasure of taking in a brand new Boylan release, who here returns to Mean Streets for a vibrant four track outing, kicking off with the haunted strings a violent drum smashes of 'Cursed' playing the role of a gruesome title track. From here, classic grime themes are invoked on 'Grid', skipping between metallic grinds and cowbell driven rhythmic switch-ups, sliding into the breaks-infused rolls of 'Operation Grand Slam', again utilizing those classic synthesizers we know and love from Boylan. Finally, Mean Streets head honcho Trends arrives on collaborative duty on 'Germs', combining more grizzly bassline slides for a crunchy outro track, rounding off a rave-ready body of work.

Review: Following on from a short hiatus away from releasing, we are super excited to see the return of Trends' Mean Streets label project, who unveil the second edition of their 'Trilogy' release series. If you are a fan of grime music in general, this isn't a tracklisting you can ignore as the likes of Boylan, D.O.K, P.Jam, and more all join Trends for eight tracks of grimey flavour. As always with Mean Streets drops, these aren't light and fluffy creations, these are instrumentals designed to cause a ruckus in the rave. Our particular favourites include the super skippy drum manoeuvres and colourful bass arrangements of 'Source' from Silas, alongside the raucous horn arrangements and lethal synthesis of Kromestar's 'Dancehall'. Amazing work from an incredible label!

Review: The run of form we have found Sentry to be on over the past few months has been pretty astonishing, with their consistency levels hitting an all time high. They return here for a fantastic collaboration EP, kicking off with Boylan & Logos linking up for a sizzling sub-heavy roller entitled 'Orders', jam packed with lethal snare pumps and a steadily progressing LFO line that just breathes energy. The party expands on the next track as Slimzee & U.S.F join Boylan for the high energy drum expanses and rattling bass tones of 'The Mould'. These two tracks work perfectly as a pairing and fit precisely into the sound that Sentry have been pushing!

Review: Raw as F*ck juke and footwork here from Moveltraxx sampler Da Movelt Posse. Dance Mania OG DJ Nehpets lines up alongside label mate DJ Clent (Planet Mu) in turning out Lil Wayne's "6 Foot 7 Foot" while laying down some sex eduation juke and footwork style. Hyperdub signing Dj Tre turns in some heavy 808 kick drums tipped in vinyl crackle alongside the frenetic jazz and sample work of Boylan & J'Roc's heroic hip hop tricks in "Letz Rock". Da posse.

Review: Footwork legend Boylan touches down for the first time on the Teklife imprint with some classic footwork goodness in a backpack full of original heaters, joined this time by a number of top quality collaborators. Firstly we witness the abstract vocal stretching and high pressure drum skips of 'Can't', before DJ Manny, DJ Tre & Poo join the ride on the super high energy drum switches and alarm like melodies of 'Key Control'. DJ Hank then gets involved with the big room synthesizer chimes and heavy 808 rolls of 'Report To The Floor' before we round up this very creative body of work the pinball melodies of 'Invention', putting the finishing touches on something very special indeed.

Review: It seems to be the season of Flowdan as he returns to us for yet another hard hitting single release here, this time joining forces with the highly sought after production stylings of Boylan. The pair land on Nomine Sound for an absolute ruckus of an original, with Boylan providing a lethal bed, writhing with reesey bass textures and rocket launcher drum drops, over which Flowdan is given the freedom to run riot, switching his lyricism between extended poetic verses and more hard hitting, shorter style punches. Wicked stuff!

Review: A year after their last V/A EP, Boxed let rip with another future-fired session that leaves no under illusion what this multi-crew collective are capable of. Boylan & Oilgang set the record straight with a brutal slab of pulverising alien bass before Rebore dusts of his string quartet and gets busy over a rifle-style breakbeat that's not often exploited in grime. Elsewhere Slackk and Logos take us deep into the swampy jungle with an unnerving set of synth tones before flipping us skyward with an elastic bassline that comes from nowhere while Fallow shuts us down with a mighty slice of gun-toting grime drama. Brutal through and through; it's time to think inside the Boxed once again.

Review: Three pivotal figures in the evolution of Chicago juke music and the developing footwerk scene come together on this new EP for Juke Trax - led by DJ Rashad, who drops a pair of new, lightening fast clap 'n' bounce workers. "Nite Love" is cold and bare, with a diced up sample of Robin S' "Show Me Love" at its core, while "GT Music" uses a nice chunk of "Percolator" and throws in some scuzzed-up kicks and short vocal samples into a perfectly-structured and thrilling juke smasher. Elsewhere, Boylan samples Etta James on "Hands" and Lil Wayne on the brilliantly chaotic "Pistol", while all three producers join forces on the subby half-step of "Drinkin'".
